Eye Pillow Vacation Lavender Infused Pillow for Migraines, Insomnia, and Stress Review

I get a terrible migraine headache about 1-2 times per week. If you have ever experienced a migraine, you know it is a terrible sensation and is even worse if you are a parent.  Mommy cannot just lay in bed all day or go into a dark room and not be bothered.  Mommy needs to face the day and the kids (in my case an 11 month old who is teething and a very active stay at home all day 4 year old, who bounces off the walls in our tiny country home.  My migraines, as I am sure yours are as well (if you have them) so terrible, I feel like I have just gotten off of a incredibly fast spinning carnival ride and am sick to my stomach, and lights, movement, and voices bring incredible pain to my head and eyes.  There are a few things that often help (or at least speed the process of recovery), besides complete darkness and utter quiet.  I find that cold compresses and peppermint essential oil and lavender essential oil help me.  I usually take a few drops of peppermint and lavender oil and massage them into my temples.  I rarely take headache medicine or over the counter medicine as I try to use as natural and homeopathic methods as possible.

I was sent a Lavender Eye Pillow from the Eye Pillow Vacation company on Amazon.  They make pillow type sleep and relaxation masks without straps.  I never am fond of the sleeping masks with straps as they have velcro that either get caught in my hair or they are plain uncomfortable.  This company makes these eye pillows (USA made!) in your choice of silky soft satin or organic cotton.  They are made out of organic flax seeds and lavender herbs.  They offer a 100% Money Back Guarantee and Lifetime Warranty.

This is a perfect combination and works really well for alleviating my stress and pain.  It is not immediate, however with pain as bad as mine, any lessening is greatly appreciated.  During the day, while my husband is at work, I need to focus on my babies.  If a migraine hits, I can sit (snuggle) on the couch with my 4 year old and place the eye pillow on my eyes for a mini "eye vacation." (Fully awake).  I always use this chilled from the freezer.  I tried it once in the microwave just to test it out, but I already know how I prefer cold when I am stressed and have a migraine.  I prefer hot packs when cramping or have muscle aching.  I do put this in a freezer bag before putting in the freezer so as not to make food smell/taste like Lavender, and so as not to make my Lavender eye pillow smell like whatever item is in the freezer.

At night, this works well for blocking out unwanted light.  It stays on if I am on my back, but since I sleep on my side, I generally am not able to keep it on without it sliding off.  I usually lay on my back for about 15 minutes or so and then remove the pillow to sleep on my side.  I am sure some people sleep on their back the entire night and might be able to keep this on longer.

Lavender has long be known to ease, treat and lift these issues: Insomnia, Anxiety, Stress, Migraines, Head Aches & Mild Depression.  I like how the weight of the seeds, along with the Lavender scent, is soothing and calming to me.  This is helpful when I am stressed, in pain, or just need to pamper myself.

I selected the organic cotton beige / tan pillow as I love cotton.  The color is classy and the seams are neatly stitched.  The Lavender fragrance smells wonderful and I can notice it right away even before heating or freezing.
