Ultra Age Repairing Cream by Sobo Skincare, Powered by BrandBacker: Review

I was selected to try a sample of Ultra Age Repairing Cream by Sobo Skincare, through BrandBacker. I received a 5ml sized sample to test, this was about enough for daily nightly use around my delicate eye area, between my brows, and forehead for a week. I decided to use this nightly since it did not have an SPF. I do prefer items that have SPF in them as you need to protect all skin areas, even small areas such as the eyelids and forehead. I am 32, and although I do not have wrinkles, my eye area has some fine lines, loss of taut skin, and there are dark shading areas under my eyes. My skin is fair to light and with blue toned areas under my eye area. My lids are pretty light and often show veining. I usually apply a Vitamin C Serum along with a Hyaluronic Acid each morning and night. This cream has some nice ingredients in it. I particularly like how it has Jojoba Oil, Apricot Kernal Oil, Squalene and Hyaluronic Acid. The full size product comes in a jar, which is classy and attractive. The pump was nice though as it was a bit more hygienic. It was an airless pump, where a vacuum draws the product upwards to the top.

Here are some pictures of the sample 5 ml. pump:

This cream can be used in the day and night to noticeably reduce appearance of wrinkles. It also minimizes the signs of aging and softens skin texture. It contains all-natural Resveratrol Complex, which is the same antioxidant found in red wine. How about a nice pampering session? A glass of a fine wine, some nice face cream treatments, and maybe a mani-pedi? Candles?

Adovia natural sulfur soap: Reviewed

I do not use many cleansing products on my face since I mainly oil cleanse, however I do like to use mud masks, charcoal soaps, and sulfur soap occasionally. I only use these items if they are all natural and sulfate free with no chemicals in them. I had the opportunity to try another Adovia product, this one was their sulfur soap. This soap has few ingredients and what those that it contains are natural. The bar is 4.4 oz and contains minerals and sulfur from the Dead Sea. Before I switched to the oil cleansing method, my face would break out a few times a week and I would treat it with sulfur based spot creams and masks. My skin would always clear up after a few days of using the sulfur. The bad part would be that they always smelled like rotten eggs. This Adovia soap does not offend, it actually smells nice.

I like using this soap as it is very gentle and the Aloe Vera and Olive Oil moisturize and heal skin while the 3% sulfur helps clear up skin conditions such as Eczema and Acne. For those who are new to using sulfur on their skin, you should work your way up to using it. It does sometimes dry out skin that is not used to it. I like to use this 1-2 days a week. I use a Konjac sponge daily in the shower for exfoliation and deep cleaning (no soap or cleanser). At night I oil cleanse my face. I am completely sulfate free. This soap thoroughly cleanses my skin and does irritate me. My husband has used this as well and he likes it too. He has used my sulfur spot treatment creams in the past, however always complained about the smell. Since becoming sulfate free, I use my sulfur spot cream about once every 4-6 months. Now I do get an occasional small blemish sometimes once or twice in a 2 week period, however, they usually are gone the next day. My skin's main concern is blackheads as I have extremely lard pores. :(

This soap is great, and I like it a lot. Adovia does not disappoint. The bar will last me a while, I have had it a month and still have over half. The photos below are of my new unused soap before I tried it. I am not a fan of taking pictures of used misshapen soap, and you probably don't like seeing it either. Here is my soap while it was still it its glory days. What a beauty!

Ingredients:

80% Palm/ 20% Palm Kernel oil, Dead Sea Salts Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Deionized Water (Aqua), Sulphur, Olive Oil, Aloe Vera, Sodium Chloride, Dead Sea Black Mud (Silt).

Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Reviewed

I take an assortment of vitamins each day. I find that I have more energy and am more alert when I take all my vitamins, drink an abundance of nice cold water, and have 1-2 high protein, high antioxidant, whole food, smoothies. My daily smoothie consists of Green Matcha tea powder, Cacao powder, 2 frozen bananas, vanilla Garden of Life pure protein powder, and either vanilla coconut almond milk or regular milk.

One of the supplements that I always make sure to take is Omega / DHA. I have been trying the Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega, with hint of lemon. They are large in size, however they go down smoothly and with zero fishy aftertaste. I do not think they taste like lemon, as I am swallowing them, but the fragrance of them is improved as they do have a faint lemon scent. I do not enjoy smelly pills.
Omega 3's / DHA / EPA are very important for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, and everyone really. I am feeding my infant son naturally, so I continue with my Omegas and do not skip days. Omega 3 essential fatty acids found in fish oil assist with healthy brain and cognitive function. This is why it is really important to take while pregnant for a developing baby. I begin Omega 3 about 6 months before I became pregnant with my first child, about 4 years ago, and have been taking them ever since. I took plant based Omega 3 / DHA when I was pregnant due to concerns over high levels of mercury and unsafe ingredients in most fish oil based omega. This brand is a top quality, mercury-free, high level omega 3 supplement that is certified and utilizes ongoing third party testing on many levels. I truly believe they care about the well being of their consumers.

Omegas are nourishing to the body in many other aspects, they improve joint mobility, eye health, and heart health. They also provide a natural luster and strength to hair, and can make your skin look nicer. Omega 3's are also great for the immune system, can improve mood, and maintain blood glucose levels. Omegas are great for breast and prostate health. They are an all around great supplement to take.

Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega contains 70% purified omega-3 fatty acids, with a high concentration of EPA and DHA. I had heard about this brand previously but had never tried it. It is pricier than other brands, however it does seem to be of utmost quality and I like how every product is third party tested.

My husband and I have been trying this brand for 2 weeks and are liking it. It has not caused any side effects for us and neither of us have experienced any burping or aftertaste. There is no gluten, milk derivatives, GMO's or artificial colors or flavors.

"The Art of Cooking" set of 3 Silicone Baking Mats: Reviewed

We do not bake sweets a large amount due to the fact that when we do, everything gets eaten by the next day. This is not great for our waistlines. :) We try to save dessert baking and treats for every 2-4 weeks. We do however, eat a lot of baked chicken, baked potatoes, french fries (not healthy sadly), pork roast, etc. Normally we would put them on a lightly spray oil greased metal baking sheet and they would taste delicious, however, the pans would get baked on messed and we did not like adding excess oils to already naturally oily foods (frozen french fries).

We recently received a set of 3 baking mats to review. They are similar to ones seen in cooking stores and shows. These are a nice classy grey and come in a set. We like using these to line our pans, which has stopped the burnt on black messes and added fat to our cooking. Taco shells work great on these as well.

I was able to use the smallest one for a quick and healthy snack for our 3 1/2 year old. She always is wanting a snack when waking from her nap. I put one flour tortilla folded over with some mozzarella cheese and place it on a small mat. This made a crispy, non greasy quesadilla! I did not need to fry it in a pan or spray it with any oil. It cooked quickly, did not burn, and clean up was easy. I only needed to wait for the silicone mat to cool, then wipe with a lightly sudsy cloth or disinfectant wipe, and rinse under warm water. There was no scorching or mess. I cut her snack in half (on her plate---not on the mat), and added a tablespoon of roasted red pepper hummis (chickpea dip). She loves to dip her foods. :)

The brand is "The Art of Cooking" and gives your pan a non-stick surface. I like how the mats are all BPA and BPP free. They are produced using FDA (USA) and LFGB (Europe) approved materials, these are oven, microwave, and freezer safe. They do not say where they are made, so I am guessing they are sadly not USA made, however as they put it, they are made using "USA approved materials."

My husband likes making homemade biscuits, and these silicone mats are perfect for a smooth clean space for flouring and rolling the dough. The nice thing is, when he is done, the flour excess can be easily contained, and the mats are lifted and shook into the trash, then rinsed off. EASY!

These mats are apparently dishwasher safe, but for top rack only. I personally do not see us needing to use the dishwasher on these. They will probably last a bit longer if hand washed. The mats will not absorb food orders which is great when we use garlic and rosemary or other fragrant herb seasonings on our baked chicken. These are not to be used as a cutting surface as this will damage the mats.

I can see us using these for the chocolate freezer treats I make. I like to melt semisweet chocolate with some butter and cacao powder, add shaved lightly sweetened coconut, and crushed almonds or pecans, roll them into little cookies and freeze for about 15-20 minutes. These mats will be perfect to line a small tray or plate and put in the freezer. I like the small size as that is what I will use for the freezer. I plan to use on a plate and stick in the freezer for up to 30 minutes and then enjoy! When I made the treat previously (not using mats), they would be solidly stuck on the plate and I would need to melt them a bit to remove. This will make it so much easier! I have not made the chocolate treats using this set, but will very soon.

Here is my daughter's quick, healthy, no oil, no butter quesadilla:

Ageless Derma Natural Camoufleur Concealer: Reviewed

I have always had a problem with dark shading under my eyes, and due to my pale skin, my eyelids show blue veins. I am always on the look out for a good concealer. In the past 2 years, I have gradually begun the transition to more natural makeup and cosmetics. I was excited when I was selected to try out Ageless Derma Natural Camoufleur Concealer with Vitamin A, E and apple extracts. I chose the shade Ivory, and although it seems Fair might have been a nice choice for my light skin as well.

Ageless Derma line of mineral makeup is a grown up form of makeup. It is sophisticated and high end. It contains top quality natural ingredients that heal, soothe and protect. The concealer arrived to me promptly and is in a small 2 gram square compact. I thought the phrase, "The Art of Camouflage" was nicely done. When I first saw it I was worried that it would not last me very long. I opened it and was surprised at the thick creamy whipped consistency. It was ultra luxurious! The color did seam a bit dark in the compact, almost a peachy salmon color, which actually is a great color for correcting dark circles. I might have to try their Fair next time, and perhaps mix the 2 shades. It is a littler darker than what I usually try.

This concealer is ideal for covering up imperfections of the skin. The product is known for its industrial strength capabilities for covering scars, dark circles, veins, uneven skin tone, or noticeable birthmarks. This versatile mineral make up concealer can be used around eyes, nose, mouth, or wherever a touch up is needed.

I like how this does not have any noticeable fragrance and it is paraben free. It is 100 % pure and natural containing healthy minerals and antioxidants capable of preventing wrinkles, and nourishing the skin. I am so very happy to tell you that this is made in the USA.

Here you will see my bare face with some uneven, blotchy skin tone and dark circles. I know you wear towels on your head too! :)

Here are some days I wore the Ageless Derma Ivory Concealer. I was in a rush on these days (usually am with a 3 year old and 5 month old both at home with me) and I applied my concealer a little heavier than I wanted to. I used my finger pad which is nice for the warmth to assist with blending, however, I do better when I use my concealer brush and a lighter touch. I try to sit down at my vanity to apply makeup but lately it is applied in whatever room I am in at the moment. (If we are running late or about to leave, I am often seen with a blotting of thick dots of concealer under my eye, un-blended, and some on my finger still as I am in my 3 1/2 year old daughter's room trying to convince her to put her shoes on instead of playing with her toy fishing rod set or sticker book. :) Then I glance into the hallway mirror and blend quickly. On days I have extra time, a wet beauty blender sponge with a light blotting works nicely or my concealer brush as mentioned above.

In these pictures, I think the concealer may be a bit dark on me, it is showing up a bit peachy. I also was not the best at blending on these days. Please don't judge. :) I am not the best at blending makeup, but I have fun playing with it (and wearing it).

My final thoughts: I like this brand of concealer. The ingredients are natural and skin healing and nourishing. I think I might like to try the Fair, as it might work better for me. I adore the creamy whipped consistency of this product. I also like the compact, many of my other concealer brands (oh how many I have tried! I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a great concealer.) that I have used are circular screw on lidded jars, (if you use your fingers to apply, the jar and lid get messy when closing to lid) I love having a compact! This opens and closes nicely. Very little mess.

New Trent Airbender 1.0 Wireless Bluetooth Clamshell iPad Keyboard Case: Reviewed

I have have my ipad 2 for a few years now. We had purchased it on a whim when we we going to make a long road trip to see family about a 22 hours drive up North from our state. Our daughter was 14 months at the time and was not the best at handling long car drives over 2 hours long. We had first purchased a similar tablet with less options, however quickly a few days later, returned that and decided an ipad was best for our needs. I planned to sit in the back of the SUV and hold the ipad while my daughter would watch a pbs kids program (to watch ONLY if she got fussy---we do not normally promote tv watching or electronic use for little kids, but wanted the calmest, least stressful drive possible.) I figured when she slept, I could play around on it. We had purchased a leather cover which I still use and LOVE. (it is almost a Tiffany blue green color and real leather).

After those 2 weeks of being up North on our trip, we did not use the ipad much due to the fact that typing long emails or blogging, etc. is not the most comfortable or easy with a touch screen. I use a stylus (pink of course) as I do not like fingerprints on the screen, and so that is not so easy to do when you need to type for any length of time.

The ipad sat neatly in its leather case in a drawer of my night stand for a little over a year and a half, only used for quick 1-2 hour car rides and short non essential use (random games or browsing). I had always wanted a keyboard, however never really looked into getting one.

I recently had the opportunity to test out a wireless Bluetooth keyboard that fits ipad 2, 3, and 4. It is from the New Trent company and is a hard "thermoplastic clam shell". It is the Airbender 1.0. It is approximately 9 5/8 x 8 x 1 in measurement. It arrived to me in a nice looking box and included a small user guide and a usb cable.

This case is black with a shiny aluminum piece near the bracket of the stand. The clam shell is a matte finish and looks nice, perfect for a student or business person. It blends in and would not distract during a meeting or class session. I of course would have preferred a light pink option, but that is unnecessary I know. I also would have liked this to be more rubberized and grippy in texture. The case has many cutouts for all the necessary ports, camera, etc. At the back of the case, you can adjust the angle of the ipad with a pull out bracket, and there are 2 trays for which to rest the ipad when using. This provides a variety of viewing angles. There are 4 rubberized feet at bottom of case. The ipad snaps into the shell with ease and can be displayed in vertical and horizontal positions. Taking the ipad out of the clamshell took some patience. I wanted to be light handed and gentle(I baby this ipad) but also want to see how I could get it out. I have seen previous versions of this Airbender that allow the keyboard to detach from the top of the clam shell. I would have preferred this option so I could use my leather case and use this keyboard with my ipad. I prefer a softer material against my laptop as I worry that the screen will get scratched over time. There are tabs that are intended to protect the ipad screen from laying against the keyboard, however I am a slight bit concerned about overall wear to the screen. I am extremely gentle with my ipad.

The keyboard at first glance looks nice and the keys are flat across, as compared to our laptop keys which are curved in slightly. I had not experienced using a keyboard previously with my ipad so I cannot compare it to other keyboards on the market. These keys seem comfortable to use. I do like having a keyboard and find typing to be much easier and this will allow me to use my ipad instead of letting it sit. I like the on and off button at the top of the keyboard, which is designed to save battery life. The ipad and keyboard go into a sleep mode when unused for a few minutes, this is nice as it also saves battery. Pressing one key brings my ipad back to life and at the password screen, ready for use.

It will take some time to get used to the shorter width of the keyboard (as compared to our laptop) however, this is meant to fit a tablet and still improves my experience over just using a touch screen and stylus. The keyboard is fairly easy to use and seems nice. The Bluetooth paired quickly and provides an access code. The keys are quiet. I did notice that my version does not have a LED light showing the CAPS lock on. This made things a bit frustrating. I notice other customer images on this listing show a LED light and indicator for CAPS at the top right of the keyboard (see their images). My keyboard is different.

My desired improvements:

I would like my keyboard to be able to be a stand alone keyboard when needed. I would have liked a more rubberized, grippy case. I also was surprised that there was not LED indicator for my CAPS button---I had thought that was standard with all keyboards (whether pc, laptop or wireless for tablet).

Ozeri 42 inch Wind Fan: Reviewed

Our home is almost 100 years old. It has never had great air flow and in the summer we get hot, even when the air conditioner is on and working. We usually like to have a fan on and blowing, both for the calming noise of it, the movement of air (seems to keep things fresh smelling as the air is moving) and for the comfort. We have had the same 2 white pedestal, simple, oscillating fans since my husband and I got out of college (10 years ago). We each had one in our apartments and when we got married, the fans did as well. They were reasonable in price, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Now we have gotten 10 years out of them, and they are still working, they just are not pretty to look at (they never were lookers even when new) and they are not safe for little toddler fingers. These have been just okay as fans, they cooled the room, but attractive they were not. They also became dusty really quickly as they were the traditional open fan head.

I had the opportunity to try out a fan from Ozeri. They are an innovative company that always seems to find a way to make simple things for your home (scales, fans, lights, etc.) better and CLEVER.) I had tested out a bathroom scale from them a few months ago and the scale changed to RED on the screen if I gained some weight, and GREEN if I lost weight---CLEVERLY designed. The products are always sleek, modern, innovative, and attractive.

The Ozeri Ultra 42 inch Oscillating Tower Wind Fan is nothing short of amazing. We have been testing this out in our living room and are impressed with the smooth flow of air, the ease of use, and the calming sound of this fan. We like how you can change the fan velocity from slow to fast. We have found that the lowest setting works well for us. The screen lights up and shows the actual temperature in the room, which is convenient so that we do not need to go over to the wall thermostat in our home to check. Often the room will be 76 when starting the fan, then within 5 minutes (or less), the room becomes a comfortable 72. I love how I can have this on in our living room, but be sitting at the table in the attached kitchen, and still feel the fan cooling. It has a programmable timer which is nice, however we have not utilized that feature much. We might eventually move this into our daughter's room at night and use the timer while she sleeps.

Here is the Ozeri Product Description for this Fan:

Noise reduction technology
3 pre-programmed airflow patterns
3 whisper quiet speed settings
LCD screen with light dimming night mode
90 degree oscillation for optimal air circulation
12 hr timer that can be programmed in 1 hr increments
Includes an enhanced range remote control that can be stored in top of fan when not in use
Easy to assemble
Includes base extension for adjustable height from 32" to 42"

Easy Set Up:

I was able to set this fan up in 10 minutes or less. I used a screw driver to tighten the screws when attaching the base extender for added height. It was super easy and I did it while my husband was at work.

Safe to Use around Children and Pets:

Our 3 1/2 year old daughter plays in the living room about 90% of her day, and although our living room is very small, she has not bumped into the fan or toppled it over. We set it out of the way near a corner of the room. It seems so much safer than our previous fan. We would never leave the previous pedestal fan in the room as the blades were easily accessible to tiny fingers through the slots. This Ozeri fan slots are close together and safe. I like how the adjustments for speed and mode are on the top of the Ozeri fan, away from her view and curious fingers. She cannot reach the top opening where the fan's remote and settings are housed. We love the remote feature, it is handy and the remote stores at the top in a little compartment. Often fans with remotes have no storage storage area, causing the remote to be misplaced. The remote compartment door clicks shut and does not appear flimsy or delicate. I like how we can use the buttons on the top part of the fan when desired.

The 42 inch height is perfect for us. I was concerned about the height and base of the fan at first. I worried that it would easily fall over with an active 3 i/2 yr. old skipping and jumping around the room. We told her once at the beginning, that this fan should only be adjusted and touched by mommy and daddy, and if she wanted it on or off, to ask us to do that. We have had no issues. I think this fan would be safe enough to have in her room at night as she is always too warm.

Height and Size:

We like the 42 inch height of this fan and have it on a low pile carpet with no issues. It has a removable extension column that adjusts the fan's height from 32" to 42". It mentions on Amazon that this is a no tool assembly, we did have to use a screw driver to tighten the screws when attaching the base. The slim physique makes this easily fit in more spaces. I think this would fit in a small dorm room or an apartment with no issues.

Attractive and Stylish:

This fan is definitely attractive to have in a main room and does not clutter the space. The dark grey and sleek design make this fan a classy addition. The LCD screen looks nice, is easy to read, and can be seen from the next room. The fan has several settings, including a night mode, outdoor/nature mode, and a regular oscillating vs. stationary mode. You can increase the speed of the fan, however, in our small kitchen/living room area, we only need it on the lowest setting. It provides excellent air circulation.

Suggestion for Improvement:

My only suggestion for this fan to be improved is for it to have a heating element. With fall and winter soon arriving, I would love to be able to have an oscillating and stationary heater in our living room for an extra does of cozy comfort while working on my laptop on the couch or watching movies as a family together.

I recommend this fan and this company. They have excellent products and their customer service is always prompt and stellar.
