Adovia Moisturizing Day Cream: Reviewed

I am a stay at home mom to 2 little ones, ages 5 months and 3 1/2 yrs., but that does not mean that I do not make time for wearing makeup or pampering my skin. At age 32, I realize the importance of moisturizing and hydrating my skin. I have always been a water drinker (although I am a water snob and it has to be bottled and of a certain brand---because trust me, some brands taste like bathroom sink water put into a bottle. yeah, gross.). Drinking water helps you feel more alert, more energized, and makes your skin look fresher and can potentially make your skin look younger. It is also important to get plenty of Vitamin C (it not only helps you to stay healthier and avoid the flu, but it assists with collagen production and wrinkle prevention. Collagen and Elastin makes skin appear firmer, plumper, fuller, and in a sense, younger. Eating more fruits and vegetables makes your skin glow as well. Oranges, strawberries, tomatoes, broccoli, peas, peppers, and lemons, are fantastic sources of Vitamin C. I try to eat a lot of the above foods (minus the peppers as I am not crazy about them) as well as apply Vitamin C serum topically to my face daily. I also eat a daily smoothie made from Green Matcha tea powder (antioxidants and natural sustained energy), 2 frozen bananas, milk, cacao powder (raw, dark chocolately goodness packed with antioxidants) and a super food based vanilla protein powder. Now, I do not look 22, and no matter what special anti-wrinkle cream I use, I will not look 10 years younger, however, I do think there are creams and serums that can help slow the effects of aging, visually firm, and smooth skin, which can make a person look more attractive and even bit younger. I personally do not believe in claims of creams making you look younger in 1 or 2 weeks, or drastic changes to your appearance in short periods of time, however over the course of weeks and months, a person's skin can dramatically improve.

As mentioned, I love to pamper my skin. I obviously have the most time for skin pampering at night, however I do like to wear makeup when I leave the house. If I plan to not leave the house on a certain day, I let my skin breathe and just shower, wash my face with my oil cleansing method, tone with witch hazel, apply vitamin c serum / hyaluronic acid, and usually a moisturizer. That may sound like a long list of things to apply on my bare face days, but really, it does not take any time at all, and benefits are so worth it.

I have been a fan of Adovia skin care for almost a year. I have tried so many of their products and they do not disappoint. There was only one item I did not love due to the fact that it was a shampoo with sulfates and I have been sulfate free for 2 years. If the shampoo is ever in a sulfate free version, I will use it.

I was super happy to try out a day cream from Adovia. The Moisturizing Day cream is a thick whipped facial lotion in sturdy and attractive glass jar. (THANK YOU Adovia for the glass jar--I really think that using glass is such a nice touch. I review a lot of products and the companies use plastic for many high end anti wrinkle creams and serums. I never understand why (except to save on costs) they would want to use plastic. Glass is so much classier and feels like the purity, integrity, and potency of the cream is much improved, protected, and higher in quality.)

The Adovia Daily Moisturizer Cream is very thick, and as it suggests on the jar, it definitely works well as a base under makeup. That is what I use it for. In middle, high school and college (yes I have worn makeup a long time--I am a makeup lover) I would wear foundation and face powders WITHOUT primer. Seriously I did not know HOW IMPORTANT it is for a flawless, smooth, long lasting foundation. By the middle of the school day, my foundation would disappear or look splotchy. Now back then I used sulfates, and washed my overly oily, combination t-zone skin 2-3 times a day and had terrible oil, shine, and some acne spots. So by not wearing primer, my makeup would slip off my oily face. I have been wearing some sort of primer / base under my foundation for the past 5 or more years and it makes a huge difference. (also being sulfate free and oil cleansing has cleared my face, and I am no longer greasy/shiny). I use this Adovia cream as a base under foundation and the cream absorbs well, but provides an almost matte base. It makes my cheeks and forehead super soft and helps my foundation adhere.

I am not extremely fond of the fragrance, it is a bit strong and smells like a strong perfume--not a cheap or unpleasant smell, just strong. The Adovia shampoo and Conditioner had this similar fragrance. I would have preferred the cream to smell like lavender, cucumber, aloe, lemon or lime. (something a little more essential oil or natural). It does not leave a fragrance on my fingers after application and I do not notice it after it is on my face. I just think it smells a bit strong in the jar and while I am applying it.

That is my ONLY complaint. There are some chemical based ingredients (or at least they sound chemical based) in this cream that I am not sure of, but as beauty products go, this company is pretty stellar.

It contains Dead Sea Minerals (from Dead Sea Salt) which softens skin. I like that this cream contains natural oils such as Grape Seed and botanical extracts. I like how it has Papaya extract, which has antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins C, and E. This cream also contains skin soothing aloe vera gel.

The cream is 1.7 oz. I still have half a jar left and I use it almost every day. It is a nice cream and I recommend it. I have not had any irritation with this cream. My face feels softer, and my cheeks and forehead feel firmer after application. No, I do not look 22. But yes, this is fantastic cream and I feel it is beneficial. It may not be loved by everyone, it may not work for everyone. This is just my opinion of this cream.

The company offers a Fantastic and Generous "1 YEAR 100%, Unconditional, No Questions Asked, Money Back Guarantee." That is great to be able to have such support and care from a company.
