I have always been a lover of makeup. Even at around the age of 4 or 5 I was curious about it. My mom did not wear much makeup when I was little (only occasional mascara and a lipstick) and she wears zero makeup today. I am not sure where my fondness came from as I did not have older sisters or relatives who wore it. But I was drawn to it and wanted to wear it. Around age five I would secretly play with makeup at my neighbor friend's house. We would wash it off before I went back home. O how I would have loved a toy set that I could put in my purse.
My daughter is 3 1/3 and from the age of 2 she carried around a pink sponge curler or 2 as a lovey. She did not know what they were called but she loved the pink squishy things. Hers did not have the plastic clip part, only the pink foam. She has watch me on occasion apply my makeup and has always loved makeup brushes. I usually give her the small freebie brushes that come with my blushes and makeup sets as I always use full size brushes. The small ones are never the quality I like and the brush heads are too small for my liking. She has close to 8 or more of the tiny blusher brushes.
When I had the opportunity to review and test a toy makeup set from Little Cosmetics, I was so happy. I knew my daughter would love this! I was right, she does. It is in her red clutch purse and she plays with it often.
I took a video of her first opening the set. She thinks it is "so cute." She made me smile as I watched her. She had green grass stains on her jeans in the video. :) Her favorite pieces are the glitter pot shadow and the hot pink lip gloss. The gloss has a roller ball that makes it look and feel real when she applies it. She always wants to show us her makeup after she does it.

My Thoughts:
My husband and I think this is cute. We were concerned at first that she would not be able to open the compacts, however she seems to have very little difficulty. We do notice that the brushes shed a bit and may not last long. The eye shadow palette did get a dent (about a thumb nail size) in it the first use, but it seems to smooth out a bit so is not too much of a problem. There are no fragrances and the glitter did not seem to get sparkles on anything. She does not put things in her mouth, so we feel this is safe. I love the colors in the set, they are colors that I wear, so she can be like mommy.
