Baja Baby Shampoo and Body Wash: Reviewed

As many of you that read my blog know, I have been sulfate free for almost 2 years. I used to have to wash my hair every day and would be greasy by early evening each day. My hair would be limp and dull. I have been on the lookout for a gentle, low or no chemical shampoo that is free of sulphates, parabens and phosphates. I have used a variety of sulfate free shampoos over the last 2 years but really have not found one that I really love. I want one that smells good, makes my hair soft and full, and has actual nourishing ingredients that protect and correct damaged hair.

My daughter is 3 1/2 and for the most part has been sulfate free her entire life. When she was a baby from newborn to about 6 months, I was clueless and used the well known baby shampoo brands, but finally found out about how drying and chemical laden they really can be. I would always wonder why the few times I would use them one my own hair, that my hair would feel dry and limp.

I love essential oils, and as I have mentioned (raved about) in most every cosmetic/beauty/hair/skin post is that I love washing my face and hair with oils. I use the oil cleansing method on my face, and when I deviate to something more complex (such as a natural sulfate free soap with lots of other ingredients--some that are "iffy" as to how safe they really are, my face gets grumpy and begins to get oily again. My face (and hair) loves simple oils and oils make for a balanced hair and face (at least for me they do).

My fave oils are Calendula, jojoba, argan, and grape seed. I love Calendula oil for its skin (and scalp) soothing / healing properties. Whenever we have a skin issue in this house, our healing time is cut in half when we put Calendula on it. Diaper rash, razor burn, cuts, almost gone the next day with Calendula. We also make out own Calendula infused oil (we use the nice oils in a mix: argan, jojoba, grape seed, and sweet almond oil. I know some people use plain olive oil, but we like using the best oils possible.)

I was so happy when I found a shampoo that has this ingredient in it. Baja Baby Shampoo & Body Wash has skin and scalp loving ingredients and smells delicious! It is full of the good stuff and doesn't have any of the chemicals and harsh ingredients that other shampoos have.

Calendula is the first ingredient (after water)! (yay). I am guessing this shampoo must have a decent amount of Calendula for it to listed at the front (at least I am hoping!).

Other wonderful ingredients include: Burdock Root, which can help strengthen hair by nourishing the scalp. Burdock root calms scalp irritation and can clear dandruff. Burdock Root when used in shampoo or hair oil massage has been known to increase hair thickness, hair strength and provide a glossy luster to your strands. Burdock is rich in Vitamin A and essential fatty acids.

Nettle Leaf assists in reducing hair fall / loss and encouraging hair to re-grow. It has many vitamins (such as A & C), fatty acids, and minerals to produce stronger and healthier hair. Nettle has an astringent quality, that deeply cleanses hair, but is gentle. Hair is cleansed, but not stripped. It is full of body and soft to the touch. I like to drink nettle tea and sometimes do a nettle tea rinse for my hair. Stinging Nettle tea has an earthy, hay-like flavor. I always add a bit of local honey to mine and it is wonderful.

Hemp Seed Oil is excellent at strengthening hair cuticles and moisturizing dry hair. Vegetable Glycerin is also a nice ingredient as it draws moisture. I always add a few drops of vegetable glycerin into my oil cleansing regimen for my face.

This bottle comes in a generously sized 16 oz. I have used this on my 4 1/2 month old son, my 3 1/2 year olf daughter and myself.  I love the lightly scented citrus smell. It reminds me of a juicy mandarin orange. I like how the company gives a portion of the proceeds  to Casa Hogar Charity.  This is an orphange in Los Cabos, Mexico which provides education and love. These children are able to have a happier, and healthier life.

I wash my hair twice a week, (my routine for almost 2 years now) and my hair has been fluffy and soft using this Baja Baby Shampoo. It does not look greasy in my opinion. The close up picture (taken in my car) was taken on a very rainy humid day after my hair had air dried from my Baja Baby shampoo. The outside picture is me about 3 days of unwashed hair (hair put up in shower cap during my showers). My hair is naturally wavy, but this shampoo gives it a softness and nice silky feel. It has movement.

This is my 3 1/2 year old daughter before brushing her hair. We let it air dry and her hair is full and soft. She inherited my husband's fine, thinner baby soft hair. In this picture, it looks really full. It did not have many tangles at all. (despite the fact she laid on her back pretending to be a mermaid in the tub and her hair was floating every which way. :) )
Here is my 4 1/2 month son, he does not have much hair, but we always wash him head to toe. He smelled so juicy, of course I had to kiss him afterwards. :)

Clear shampoo is always good, it looks pure and seems liek it would be very gentle. (It is gentle, yet effective.)
My husband has not tried the shampoo yet, but I hope to have him try it soon. I like this shampoo a lot and it worked well for me, and my 2 littles. I love the simplicity of it. The name is cute as well.
