BareFaced Dead Sea Facial Mud Mask: Reviewed

I love a good face mask. I make homemade ones using various items in my kitchen and refrigerator. I have been a facial mask enthusiast for years, probably as early as middle school. I really love dea sea or mud based masks. I was selected to review a mud mask called, BareFaced Dead Sea Facial Mud Mask . It is natural and is a delight on my skin.

This is a dark grey, almost black hued mask made with mud from the Dead Sea and contains many skin nourishing and pore clearing ingredients. I am always a fan of essential oils, and this one definitely has some wonderful ones.

Lavender Essential Oil is is cleansing, healing and inhibits the bacteria that causes acne. It also can reduce acne scarring.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil contains antibacterial and antiseptic qualities, it also helps provide relief from inflammation and pain from cystic acne.

Hickory Bark Extract is known for its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, it provides healing as well.

Organic Aloe Vera Juice is very effective in treating a variety of skin conditions, such as wounds, burns, rash, irritation, etc. It is very moisturizing. Aloe is often used with success on acne prone skin, it allows the skin to heal quickly and naturally with minimal scarring. It is also cooling and soothing to inflamed, irritated acne spots and reduces redness.

Kaolin Clay can stimulate healing and reduce irritation while also drawing out impurities in the skin such as pore-clogging oils, dirt, and toxins. Kaolin clay also thickens masks well.

Shea Butter is high in Vitamin E and A and has been clinically proven to have healing properties of the skin. Its moisturizing properties sink deep into the skin, releasing Vitamin E, and help to improve dry and irritated skin, including eczema.

Organic Vegetable Glycerin
draws moisture to the skin, known as a humectant.

Organic Sunflower Oil has Vitamins A, C, D and E, and protects the skin. Sunflower relieves and moisturizes dry and irritated skin.

Organic Jojoba Oil
is a natural emollient for skin, this oil is similar to the skin's oil (sebum). This makes is a perfect addition to cosmetics and facial care products as it absorbs into skin easily. It is an excellent skin-softening and skin-nourishing moisturizer. I use jojoba in my facial oil cleansing routine.

Organic Calendula Oil Ah, pure adoration for this ingredient. If you read my blog, you know that I am absolutely smitten. Calendula is the perfect skin soother and healer. I make my own Calendula infused oil. Calendula has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, protects the skin from premature aging, soothes dry skin, calms rashes, and so much more. We use it every day in this household. (homemade baby wipe solution, razor burn soothing oil, facial cleansing, first aid, etc.)

The BareFaced Mud is a fantastic product. It is easy to smooth on skin, feels instantly cooling and soothing, and makes my skin glow.

Directions/How I apply:

I apply the mask to a freshly oil washed / steam cleansed face and apply a thick layer of mud. I avoid getting this to close to my eye and lip area. The directions say to leave on for 10 minutes, however, I always leave masks on for 20-30 minutes or until they fall of my face is powdery clumps! I love knowing that the mud is drawing out the impurities in my pores and skin. I love the skin nouishing properties of this mask. I rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry. For best results use no more than twice a week. Ensure to securely tighten the lid after each use to preserve freshness. Wash all areas of sink as this can get messy. Do not use your best towel when rinsing this off. I haven't had permanent staining, but I like to stay on the safe side.

This picture shows me right before I went to the KISS metal rock concert. Just Kidding. I am testing out 2 mud masks.

The Bare Faced one is the darker one. It contained 6 oz. and applied much easier and smoother, and was a cooling sensation, however was a but messy to apply and I had to be careful when dipping into the jar. I like the unique and cute brand log0 of the bear.

The lighter mask (a previous brand review)
was thicker, only 2 oz. and much more difficult to apply. I did feel like the lighter colored mask was better at drawing out impurities and clearing my blackheads as it had Diatomaceous Earth, Fullers Earth, Zinc Oxide as well as the Kaolin Clay and oils. The lighter mask smelled a little better in my opinion, however I like both products. I might add some drops of peppermint oil to the BareFaced mask to give it a stronger fragrance.
