TAN'S 6mm Men's / Women's Tungsten Carbide Engagement Ring Wedding Band Review

I baby my wedding and engagement rings. I never swim, shower, or do any household chores when wearing my rings. I keep them in my jewelry box when I am just staying in at home since my days are spent changing messy diapers, cleaning up spilled food and the like. :) I am proud of my rings and like wearing them wen going out of the house, but I am always nervous about damage or getting soap scum or dirt in between the diamonds. I was recently sent a comfort fit, plain band from a company called Tan's. It is a titanium band this particular one is 6mm. In my opinion it is more of a mans ring, but it is labeled as unisex.  You can find the sizing chart and more information here.

It is comfortable and I like how I can wear it without worry of losing or damaging my own delicate, expensive white gold and diamond bands. I would recommend this for those who are active in sports, have a messy job outside the home, or who spend a lot of time outdoors such as camping or boating when the ring might get damaged, lost or dirty.

I liked how it arrived in a gift box.  It is rather thick for a ladies ring, and I would have preferred a much thinner band for me personally, however it is very comfortable. It is rather shiny, so those who prefer a more matte material may not like this as much. I ordered size 7 1/2 and it was very true to size.

This was sent to me complimentary for evaluation. For the price (currently less than $30) it is recommended.

We Dream, volume 2 CD Review

My daughter is 5 1/2 and has fallen asleep to ocean and rain sounds since birth. White noise soothes her and lulls her to sleep. My husband and I have both been using rain or ocean cds or a sound machine since college. It actually wakes us up if the sound happens to stop suddenly in the night when the power goes out in our nearly 100 year old, country home.

I recently was sent a cd (in exchange for my honest evaluation) from Ryan Judd, who is a board certified music therapist.  I have enjoyed his other compilations in the past.  This cd is called We Dream (volume 2) and is the  followup to his previous masterpiece of the name.  His music is perfect for our needs.  My daughter listens to it every night as she sleeps.  He takes the beauty of ocean waves and uses instrumental guitar to gently soothe.

His music is available on his website as well as Amazon.

"These instrumental guitar compositions are based on the most recent research that shows the positive effects of music on sleep. The soothing ocean waves create a womb-like sound experience and produce white noise to drown out household sounds. This music creates the rhythm of a resting heartbeat which can help you both relax, fall asleep and sleep soundly."

I also like playing this music for my 2 1/2 month old to calm him to sleep.  He has acid reflux and often is very uncomfortable and stressed after a feeding (he is breastfed but has some tummy issues).  He enjoys listening to shushing sounds, rain/ocean/womb/heart beat sounds and classical / instrumental music.

The ocean track continues throughout the entire CD, it has a smooth transition without breaks or silence between songs.  I love how the tracks are played at the rhythm of the resting heart rate.  I find this soothing for my newborn, my toddler (age 2), my 5  1/2 year old, and myself.  I highly recommend this cd and his others as well.

I was sent this complimentary for my evaluation, however I thoroughly enjoy it and we have listened to it every night (and some in the day for nap times).

Tea Tree Essential Oil by Brooklyn Botany (Review)

Tea Tree Essential Oil is used daily in our home for various homemade cleaning products,  bath and skin care, diffused in the air (to clean the air and assist with breathing when someone is sick and congested), and also in our homemade cloth baby wipe solution.   I have reviewed many brands in the past and have another for you today.
Brooklyn Botany's Ultra Pure Tea Tree Oil is steam distilled, with no fillers, and is extracted from the leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia.  It is 100% pure, therapeutic grade Tea Tree Oil with 45% terpinen-4-ol.  It arrived safely packaged and comes in a dark amber glass bottle.  It has a very strong fragrance, typical of tea tree oil.  I am not fond of the way tea tree smells, however I have long been a user of this oil due to its many beneficial qualities.  It is antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti fungal and heals many varieties of skin conditions.  We like using it to prevent and heal rashes and irritation on the skin, specifically diaper rash.

I mix tea tree with water, aloe vera, jojoba oil, castile soap, fractionated coconut oil and rose water and use it in our wipes warmer with cotton bamboo baby wash clothes that we use as baby bottom wipes (we cloth diaper).  The tea  tree is fantastic for keeping skin healthy and keeps the water and wipes fresh.  I did not find this particular brand to be any better than others I have tried, however I find it works well and I like it so far.  I use about 4-6 drops in a  large Nalgene bottle filled with my solution, then pour the entire mixture over folded clean wipes (while they are in the warmer).

Please note that you must always use a carrier oil when using tea tree with your skin.  I use fractionated coconut oil and either jojoba, sweet almond, rose hip, or organ oil (whatever I have easily on hand.)

Other uses for tea tree are for acne.  I have used a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with aloe vera (pure, without additives or colors) and bentonite clay or charcoal to use as a face mask.  Using tea tree helps speed up the process of healing.  Tea tree also can assist with dry and irritated scalp or dandruff.  Try adding a few drops to your shampoo.  We use sulfate free shampoos, but often add a few drops of tea tree.

Since we do not use dryer sheets or fabric softener, I like to add a few drops of tea tree to our wool dryer balls (about 1 drop or 2 per ball).  As seen we use many dryer balls so not every one has oil on it.  I only add oil to the balls that have the brown heart on them (easier to keep track).  Too much oil can make your clothes have oil spots or may damage your machine, do this at your own risk. :)

This tea tree oil is available on Amazon and is reasonably priced.  I was sent a sample bottle complimentary for this review.  I have used this every day for a month.  With 2 of my 3 children in diapers, I go through 3 wipes containers per day (cloth wipes) so I use this in my solution frequently.

This is my honest opinion of this particular product.  As mentioned above, I have tried various brands  of tea tree oil, and this one is on par with the others I have tried.  I have been fortunate to have experienced good brands of tea tree so far.

The Country Oak (etsy) Knitted goods (review)

I just love Etsy.  It is one of the activities I enjoy to do in my spare time.  Shopping? Yes. I love to shop on Etsy when I have some Paypal funds available, but even just browsing is very enjoyable.  I love vintage decor, and vintage fashion items such as scarves, cluster earrings, brooches, sweater guards, and Stratton makeup compacts.  I collect the compacts and like to coordinate them to the bag I am using (I clean and sanitize the compact and then put my own face foundation in them).  I wear vintage earrings frequently, and scarves, well I am almost always wearing a vintage silk or polyester scarf it seems.  It always adds a nice flair to what I am wearing.  Grandmas closet, the sweet ladies at church? I want to raid it and take all the pretties and wear them.  Circa 1940 to late 1960's, I want them all.  :) I have recently acquired a few vintage plastic rain bonnets from my husband's mother's mother (um, Mother in Law's mom).  :) Yes I wear them, proudly.

I also love finding items for my children on etsy.  Recently I have been obsessed with wool diaper covers (made from gently used sweaters that are given a new life).  More on those in another post.  :) I love vintage kitchen decor and handmade or natural ingredient household cleaners and bath products.  Recently I was sent some items from a sweet gal on etsy named Jodie at The Country Oak. Jodie is a natural loving mama who makes various knitted items ranging from hats  and scarves to handmade soaps, kitchen sponges / scrubbies, wash cloths and unique deer antler keychains!

She sent me a set of 2 green knitted sponges and let me tell you, they are nothing short of amazing.  I never knew a sponge could be knitted!  This sponge works so well and it washes in the machine with no issues!  Stinky sponges are history!  I like to keep one of my sponges in our froggy sponge holder and then switch it out when it needs washing.  She can custom make them in your desired color to coordinate your kitchen.  I think the solid red is particularly stunning!!

I was also sent a blue knitted baby hat (all cotton!) and 2 knitted wash cloths.  I use these aqua blue / turquoise wash cloths for my 2 1/2 month old baby.  There is just something special about washing a tiny baby in a sink.  These wash cloths are gentle and easy to get into the small crevices of baby skin.

The blue cotton hat is so nice.  We were given some knitted hats when he was born but they were an acrylic knit.  Cotton is so breathable and this hat is perfect for him to wear at night when our air conditioner is on full blast this summer.  He sleeps in our room and our Tempurpedic memory foam bed makes us hot so we have the AC on cold.  The hat fits still him well, as he is currently 2 1/2 months old and it was sent to us when he was about 5-6 weeks old.  (I am late to post this review, as life adjusting with a 5 year old, 2 year old and newborn does get busy).

I love this hat! It is not stretched out or showing wear despite being frequently worn and loved.  I like putting it on him after his bath as well.  He is often chilly and the hat instantly calms him.

The previous pictures were of him at 5 weeks of age.  This next picture is him just a few days ago at 2 1/2 months.

I really am impressed with Jodie's work.  For more information about what she creates, or to find something from her shop, you can find her on etsy.
