DUcare Makeup Brushes 27Pcs Professional Makeup Brush Set (Review)

(I was sent these makeup brushes at no cost to try. I was not compensated for this review other than the complimentary set. This is my honest opinion.)

These DUcare makeup brushes are nice in appearance and the handles are smooth. They did not have a strong chemical smell when I opened them (a relief since I am very pregnant.)  These brushes arrived in a simple plastic bag and each brush was wrapped with a mesh over the brush head. They did not come with a cosmetic bag or fancy case. I have plenty of pretty vintage floral bags and non vintage cosmetic bags/cases so was not concerned about not having a storage bag but if these are for a gift, you may want to repackage them into something nicer. The packaging was very basic (underwhelming) and the plastic is very loud/crinkly LOL.

The bristles are soft and do not shed. They are synthetic and the company compares them to goat hair. I have never had real hair makeup brushes so I cannot comment as to if they are similar. I only had one bristle hair fall out with washing. I normally use castile soap and warm water to wash my brushes but was unable to wash these the proper way before my photos and video review. (I apologize that two brushes are stained with makeup.) These brushes are perfect for everyday use. I will not make a personal claim that these will be used by professional makeup artists (to replace their high end brush sets), however, these would be great for the average user. These do a great job and I have not had any complaints. I am not a professional by any means. I wear makeup every time I go out of the house and these have been great during my testing period.

I will continue to use them and will have fun trying out some of the the other ones as well. I have not used the majority of these brushes--as you can see. There are too many in this set for my personal needs. The nice thing is that you will be able to select the brush types that work best for you! :) Not everyone will have the same favorite brush to use. I tend to go with the old standby types such as the powder and blush brushes, eyeshadow brushes, eyebrow grooming brushes, flat top kabuki brushes, and foundation brushes. I love using the flat kabuki for my liquid foundation. It provides a smooth finish. I also like to use a wet makeup sponge for my foundation but often use a brush as well. There are several similar brushes in this set that are different sizes. I like the short to medium length of the handles. Some of my other makeup brushes have longer handles and do not get used much. I have a large collection of makeup brushes. :)

I recommend these and think they work well for my needs. Currently the set is less than $25 with Prime Shipping. You can find them on Amazon.

Yardley London Moisturizing Bath Bar with Activated Charcoal with Bentonite Clay Review

I have used Yardley bath soaps for several years. I love the brand and the vintage-like branding. It is a timeless and trusted brand. It looks expensive and luxurious but does not cause your pocketbook to become lighter. Prices may vary but typically, single bath bars are $1.29 - $1.49 each ($0.97 at Walmart). I generally buy mine at Walmart or on Amazon

Yardley soaps have beautiful scents and a gentle lather. They are paraben free and sodium lauryl sulfate free. I do not use sulfates and so I appreciate that this bar does not contain them. I like using Yardley bars on my body and my face. The 100% recyclable cardboard is simple but beautiful. I like how the box graphics, color,  and fonts are elegant and sophisticated. I was sent two bars of their charcoal bar soap. I like the tallow (tallowate) in it as it provides a creamy and skin softening effect. I also love the coconut oil, glycerin, charcoal, and bentonite clay. The only ingredient I am not loving is the petrolatum that this soap bar contains. Unfortunately, there are a lot of products in the beauty industry that contain it.

Here is some additional information from the brand:

"Rich in lather and in heritage, Yardley bath bars provide the perfect combination of time-tested ingredients from nature that make your skin feel good, with essential oil fragrances that make you feel good.  Today, the tradition continues with our new Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Bath Bar.
Activated Charcoal is known for its ability to help draw out impurities and combines with Bentonite clay to help purify and cleanse skin while you bathe.  Yardley’s Activated Charcoal bar uplifts with refreshing notes of spearmint and bergamot to energize and excite the senses."
You can learn more at yardleylondon.com and on Facebook at facebook.com/YardleyLondonUS/.
The charcoal bars are great for gentle cleansing of skin. My husband likes to use these. The scent can  be enjoyed by men. The charcoal is a scent that is not too feminine. :) My favorite scent of Yardley soap is the English Lavender
Yardley bars are a nice size and their shape is comfortable to hold. I use natural sea sponges for bathing.

*I was sent two full sized charcoal bar soaps and one mesh poof for this review. I was not paid/compensated other than the free items. This is my honest opinion of the above product(s).

Sugaring Factory Paste "Luxury HOME" Organic Hair Removal Review

I have been reviewing this medium sugar wax from the Sugaring FactoryUsing a wax can make the hair grow back slower and even soften after repeated use. It pulls hair out by the root.

I like using sugaring wax/paste as it rinses easily from my skin. I have experience with using soft sugar wax with cloth or felt paper strips. Clean up of spills is also easier with sugar-based wax. I like to use sugar wax while standing in the tub/shower (with the water off). I can then rinse off when needed. Sugar wax takes more practice, at least for me. I had some issues with this sugar wax and may need to use the harder wax this company provides. I had some excess stickiness when using it. It would stick to my gloves but I think I need tighter gloves and some more practice.

I generally use regular (non-sugar) wax for hair removal. It is messier but I am better skilled at using it as it is stiffer. However, regular wax can be dangerous as you need to warm it in a microwave or wax warmer until it is almost liquid. Skin can be burned.

This sugar wax is all-natural and does not contain chemical additives or colorants. I appreciate the simple ingredients. It is nice not to see a bunch of long words and unknown ingredients. Here are the all-natural ingredients: natural sugar, organic citric acid, purified water.

I want to mention that the wording and overall grammar/spelling is not the best on the paper disc packaging of this wax.

Here are some tips and some general information from the company: (copied and pasted)

The Sugaring Factory Pro Line has 4 types of paste:
  • SOFT (super soft for waxing-strips)
  • GENTLE (soft one for light hair)
  • ULTRA (all-purpose, universal paste)
  • ULTIMA (thick hair, brazilian bikini, underarm)
SUGARING instruction: (professional skills required)
  1. Hair must be at least 0.3 inches (5-6 mm) long. Avoid visiting tanning booth, pool, sauna a day before the procedure.
  2. Always use nitrile gloves.
  3. Thoroughly clean and disinfect to the area of hair removal. Sprinkle it with some drying powder if needed.
  4. If necessary, slightly preheat the paste by using standard waxing warmer or candle warmer.
  5. Apply some sugar paste on the area you are removing hair from. Pull the skin with your free hand.
  6. With a quick movement tear the paste according to the hair growth and along the skin surface.
  7. You can use the same piece of sugar paste until it starts sticking to your hands.
  8. If needed remove the traces of the paste using waxing-strips or wash them away with warm water.

Nuby Quilted Space Backpack with Safety Harness Leash

Going places with very young children can be fun but also challenging and stressful. You want them to be able to explore and have fun interacting with their surroundings and you want them to be happy but you may often worry about them getting hurt from running too far or fast.

My little fella is almost three. He is small and fast. He loves to climb. He can weave through small spaces and is difficult to catch sometimes. I had seen other parents with their small children on "leashes" before and I understand the side eye people give them. I was one of those people once to give silent judgment and could never believe that I would put my child on a leash. However, I now realize there are some places you would want to use one. Since we have three very active children, ages 3, 5, and 8, we often can get distracted and have our hands full. A backpack safety harness leash can come in handy. These are great for extremely crowded places or places where a child might be prone to get into items or areas that are unsafe. Disney is a place we dream of going to someday soon and I will definitely bring this along. This can come in handy for museum, zoo, or aquarium touring where things are breakable or the places are not the safest to be running around near (water, wild animals, etc.) I love the material of this backpack. It is wipeable and it is soft and comfy. My son loves to use it without the harness strap when he is at home. He puts things in it and loves zipping and unzipping. The rocketship pattern is adorable and could be great for a girl as well. I highly recommend this Nuby safety harness backpack and am glad I was able to evaluate it. Nuby is a brand we have used for our three children for years. It is a trusted and well-made brand that is budget friendly. I was sent it for review. Check them out!
