Luxe Home Essentials Microfiber Kitchen Towels: Reviewed
We have a wide assortment of kitchen towels in our house. They are mismatched and most are fraying or worn. Ours are cotton, and although I love cotton for clothing, having it in a dish towel does not always work the best in our house. We keep a dish towel in the kitchen for drying hands and it gets a lot of heavy use in one day. My husband and I are always washing our hands in the kitchen sink, and after several uses, the towel gets pretty damp, which can lead to a smelly towel. I have never used a microfiber towel in the kitchen, but I am aware of how microfiber works as we have cloth diaper inserts (we use pocket diapers) made of microfiber terry, and those are said to hold up to 15 oz. These towels are said to hold 10 times their weight in water, so I was excited to see how a microfiber towel would work at absorbing water from constant hand drying in our kitchen.
The brand I am reviewing is Luxe Home Essentials Microfiber Kitchen Dish Towels, they are approximately 15 x 25 inches, and are white waffle weave. These are soft and look nice in the kitchen. I think they would look nice in many types of kitchen decor. We have been using them frequently for a couple weeks and they wash up well. I do worry about staining as the manufacturer states that these are not to be bleached and white is a difficult color to keep bright. We rarely use bleach , but we use oxygen powder, which I have not tried on these, but am hoping is safe for them. If I need to use the oxy powder, I will only use a small amount diluted in water.
We do not use these for wiping down counters as we are worried about staining from spilled coffee (near our coffee maker drip tray) or fruit juice drips. The white towels do look nice and classy, as our appliances are white, however I think if these were colored towels we would be more likely to use them for wiping. Our kitchen is a vintage pink, white and olive green and I would like to have these towels in a nice vintage olive green shade (or vintage pink!).
My husband and I both like the texture weave of these and agree that these towels seem to grab water well without staying moist. The texture seems to assist with the absorption in my opinion. They are sturdy and do not look like they will fray any time soon and the edges are nicely done. They are lint free which is also nice when used to dry glasses. The only thing we do not like about these towels is where they are made, we prefer items that are USA made.
One thing that might have been a bit better would have been a different selection of packaging for these towel. In my opinion, I think the dark cobalt blue packaging could be improved to give them a more home kitchen feel, as currently in my opinion the overall packaging makes them look more industrial such as from a restaurant suppler and not for a home kitchen. I think a smaller hanging tag with the Luxe Home Essentials name and a few details might look nicer. (Perhaps have an insert of paper with the care instructions.)
The company has a money back guarantee, if you are unsatisfied with the towel. For more information or to purchase these towels, you can find them on Amazon: Microfiber Kitchen Dish Towels
