DotMine 17-month day planner: Reviewed

I had the opportunity to try a planner this past month. I have never really used a planner at all in my life. It is crazy that at age 32, I am just now getting into organizing what I need to do and keeping it all in space. I have always been a list maker. I would write lists of things I need to purchase for a trip, along with what needs to be packed, and I would write important schedules and dates down, grocery lists and doctor appointments, but they would always be on several different pieces of paper and the lists had no central storage area, except loose on a kitchen counter or folded up to take with me. I have a smart phone with a calender and memo areas, but I never use that option, and usually my phone is nearing 15% or less on battery.

I am a visual, paper in hand type of girl. I have an e-reader that I got a few years ago, but have only really used it a few times as I feel a book in my hand is so much more special. The same thing is with a planner, or even just a list on paper. I like actually writing it down as I think I remember it better. My mind visualizes what I wrote and it stays with me.

The brand of planner is called DotMine. They have different types of planners available to meet the needs of the user whether you are a parent, student or professional. The one I received was the Family Time version. The planner I selected is the Free Bird Planner. I love the classy black and white geometric cage type print. It also has 2 accent colors on it that I really love: mint green and a peachy coral color little birdy. It is 8 1/2 by 11 in size and might be larger than some planners you have tried. I happen to like the size, as I use this planner at home and I find it is so easy to write in and fits my needs. There are various areas for writing lists as well! I thought this was a nice feature. I can write a shopping list and then if desired, I can carefully remove it from the planner to take with me since it is perforated.

It has weekly and monthly calender planning, and I seem to use the monthly view the most. Inspirational and humorous quotes are included at the bottom of the page for each week. The planner divides out your Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer schedule. I love the fact that this is spiral bound as it helps the planner stay flat and open to the page I am working on. The outside of the planner is a durable plastic (wipeable). This is a must have, especially since this planner goes with me all around the house and is often set on the kitchen table or counters. This also makes it look newer for longer. I have had mine a month and have used it daily. The outside front and back cover looks untouched. This planner is great for my needs.

I also like how it has a pocket in the back for slipping in important extras such as coupons or appointment cards, etc. I like how it is a 17 month planner, beginning in the late summer, early fall. I realize most planners probably have this, but since I have not had much experience with using a planner, this really makes me happy: this has a full page of this years holidays. This makes it easy when you wan to find out exactly what day of the week a certain holiday will occur.

This planner is sturdy and attractive. The price for it is reasonable as well. The only thing I disliked about the planner was that it is made/printed in China and I prefer buying USA made.
