Blossom Silicone Menstrual Cup Review
Have any of you tried a menstrual cup? I have been using a Diva cup for the past 2 years or so. I have liked it and never want to go back to tampons as they are not the safest and to be honest they are a pain to use. The Diva cup has been great. Using a menstrual cup has made my periods shorter and less unbearable. What I have disliked about my Diva cup is that it is almost $40 (yikes), a bit on the dense side, and is clear (prone to discoloration over a few years time).
I was sent a Blossom Cup for review. I had never heard of the brand but was happy that they come in several bright colors (yay for pink!) and are said to be manufactured in USA and with medical grade silicone. I was happy to try one. I am quite happy to report that I love it and it is so much more comfortable to insert than my Diva cup. The Diva cup is fine once inserted, but it was a bit difficult due to it being more dense and rigid. The Blossom cup is softer and easier. I insert both products the same way, and both are comparable once worn, I just prefer a softer mold. I was sent the larger size as I am 31 and have had 2 kids (although they were emergency C sections). Diva cup suggests the larger for those who have had a baby (I am assuming naturally) and/or those over 30.
I have not had any leaking and it is comfortable. I did remove some of the stem on the blossom cup (as i did with the Diva cup) as I actually remove gently and carefully at the rounded base instead of using the nub/stem. I clean my cup each day with 2 drops of baby mild castile soap and hot water by hand, rinsing well. Once per month, the first day of my period, I put it in a very hot mug of water (do not worry, it is a dedicated mug for this purpose--no one drinks out of it!)
I recommend this cup if you want something that is colorful, softer than Diva cup and about half the price. I was sent a sample, however all opinions are my own.
