Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
My husband hates tuna. He hates the smell, the appearance, and the taste. I love tuna, and so does my 3 year old. So in this household, my husband is outnumbered 2 to 1. Often I will be busy with my 3 year old and my newborn and my husband will offer to make me a sandwich. I usually like a tuna salad sandwich with egg salad in it. These 2 combinations are both smelly and delicious. He is happy to make me a sandwich but always never excited when my request is tuna. He feels that his hands get stinky and messy and that it is a added chore to open the can as the juice usually splatters when he tries to remove the lid.
I had the opportunity to review a silly but fascinating product, called the Tuna Squish. It is silly as in funny and cute, but not silly in the way it works. I have to hand it to the company, I never thought I would need one of these little fish contraptions. Here is how it works:
Use your regular can opener and get the lid open and ready to go. Next, insert opened can into Tuna Squish, squeeze handles, turn sideways to drain the liquid, separate the fish handles, and then the magnet in upper handle lifts lid off can. There is no digging for the sharp lid (we used to use a fork to lift the lid). Press the release button, and dump lid directly into trash. This may look silly, but it works surprisingly well. My husband is a much happier sandwich maker, and we have fun contraption to pull out as a conversation starter when friends and family come over. I think it is really a cute idea, and the blue fish lips make me smile.
