Shakespearmint & Agatha ChrisTea "Collect Teables" Review (Tea)

My husband and I drink a lot of tea.  I generally prefer a nice tall glass of iced tea with about 4 lemon slices, but in the evenings I often find myself making a hot mug of tea to relax.  I was sent some complimentary samples for review recently.  The company is called The Teabook / Collect Teables.  They are rather new and growing their product through Kickstarter.

The teas are quite unique in that they have fun cartoonish drawings of well known, historical authors, philosophers, or politicians on the individual packets.  The company will be coming out with new varieties and themes, but for now, I was sent 10 Agatha ChrisTea  (earl grey tea) and 10 Shakespearmint (mint tea) Tea Packets.  Each series of teas is drawn by a different artist.

They have also come out with a fun and convenient way to store their teas (I love the Tea Green shade).  They have a tea book where you can proudly display your collection and organize the flavors.  For more information on their product and to hear updates, you can visit them on Facebook.

Both my husband and I sampled the tea and we found it had a nice flavor with no bitterness.  We do however prefer loose leaf teas and would love the company to consider having some loose variations as well.

Here is the link to the Kickstarter page if you are interested.

**I received 20 tea packets complimentary for review, no other compensation was provided.**

Sonic Cleansing Brush by Bright Therapy Review

The Bright Therapy Professional Sonic beauty care system is waterproof and runs on batteries.  This has a convenient cradle handle holder.  The handle is fully closed so it is safe to store in the shower for daily use.  My husband uses this device as I have another similar sonic cleansing facial brush.

This set includes interchangeable heads designed for cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, and toning.

Brush Head for Normal Skin
Brush Head for Sensitive Skin
Hydration Applicator
Toning Attachment

This brush system by Bright Therapy gently remove residue, dirt, and makeup effectively.  My husband uses a natural, sulfate free soap (Grandmas Natural Soap) to cleanse his entire face and beard.  He loves this brush system and uses it every morning in the shower.  He also uses this with his charcoal bar soap.

This has a soft sponge applicator for use with serums and moisturizers.  My husband uses the normal brush for daily use as he is not used to using a more exfoliating head.  He says he really appreciates that the brush heads are labeled for the particular usage.  If I were using this, I would use the more exfoliating one as I frequently use microdermabrasion crystals and scrubs.  This device requires 2 Alkaline AA batteries, which we luckily had on hand, however I would have preferred the batteries to be included as we generally are out of batteries in out household.

I find that this is a great option for those who want a sonic brush but do not want to pay the top dollar of Clarisonic or similar range brushes.  The price is right at about $30 with free Prime shipping.

Lean Health Coconut Oil Review

I use coconut oil as a base for my skin butters, lip balm, cloth diaper safe bottom balm, makeup remover, oral care (oil pulling) and so much more.  I normally use Island Fresh Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil or Whole Foods 365  Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil.  I like these 2 brands because they smell wonderful and taste like pure, fragrant coconut.  I find that oil pulling with unrefined coconut oil is more enjoyable for my mouth and tastebuds.  I love the taste of coconut.  Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal.  I swish a tablespoon of coconut oil in my mouth, through my teeth and all around my gums for 15-20 minutes, then spit it out in the trash can (please do not expel the oil down a drain where it could accumulate in the pipes and be even worse for those with a septic system like we have) and then rinse my mouth with water.  This swishing of the oil pulls toxins and impurities out of your mouth and potentially can repair oral health.  It has been said that gingivitis, gum recession, and even cavities can be improved and healed.  There are many benefits of oil pulling, even beyond oral care.  Often long term use has shown other health benefits with other ailments.

I have been oil pulling for a few weeks and try to do it nightly.  It is best to do it first thing in the morning, but I often forget with 2 little ones and the bustle of the daily tasks.

I want to briefly explain "refined" and "unrefined" in terms of coconut oil---at least in my very simple understanding of the terms.

Unrefined coconut oil has more beneficial health properties than refined coconut oil.  Refined coconut oil has a longer shelf life than unrefined coconut oil.  But for our household, coconut oil gets daily, frequent use, and so I prefer using unrefined as ours never sits around long enough to go bad.  Refined coconut oil is best used for cooking as it has a higher smoke point (safer to use) than unrefined coconut oil.  Often refined coconut oil is used for cooking as it is tasteless and odorless, as some foods would taste strange or off putting with a coconut taste.  I can imagine fried eggs would be one example.  Unrefined oil has lends a slight coconut taste and fragrance in the food when it is used in cooking.  I like to add fresh shredded coconut flakes into Chicken Korma (we enjoy Indian Cuisine occasionally ) dishes and so would not mind using unrefined oil in that case.  Cakes and desserts would be wonderful with unrefined.

I was recently sent a jar of coconut oil for review from Lean Health.  Lean Health Coconut Oil comes in a plastic container and is Cold pressed which is a great way to preserve the natural goodness in the coconut.  This is listed as 100% Virgin and Pure.  The container does not mention whether it is refined or unrefined.  In my opinion it seems refined, as it has nearly no coconut taste or fragrance.  I am not so fond of oil pulling with it as it tastes like oil.  I much prefer a more coconut fragrance.  I use this one for our cloth diaper safe bottom balm on my baby.  I also use this on dry skin.  I much prefer a fragrance of coconut oil in our skin butter, but this still softens and heals skin nicely.

I have used this oil for about 3 weeks and it works for our skin care.  I would prefer it to have the usual fragrance and taste of coconut oil.  For more information, you can find it on Amazon.

This is a mixture of coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, and Calendula oil (Calendula petals infused 6 weeks in jojoba, argan oil, rose hip oil) I use this as a skin butter.  Our cloth diaper bottom balm is basically this mixture, with some beeswax and lavender and tea tree oil.

Phytopia Tranquility Essential Oils for Anxiety & Stress Relief Review

The other day I reviewed Phytopia Stretchmark Oil blend and loved it.  I was able to evaluate another oil from them and it is just as wonderful as the previous one.  I was sent a bottle of the Tranquility blend complimentary and it is used almost daily.  It smells fantastic, as it is a blend of Vanilla, Orange Sweet, Rose Maroc, Geranium China, Olive Virgin, Sunflower oil, Evening Primrose oil and Jojoba oil.  The oils are naturally calming and uplifting to mood.

This is a 1.7 oz. blend of essential and carrier oils an amber glass bottle.  Phytopia uses only all-natural 100% organic and therapeutic grade essential oils and carrier oils combined to aid in a variety of aromatherapy and skin needs.

I use this as another option for natural perfumed body oil.  I put this on my pulse points on my wrist and inside my crook of my arm.  I also put a few drops behind my ears and on my shoulders.  It is a very warm and romantic fragrance.  This is fantastic to use in a nice warm bath.  I like to add some natural sea salts (pure without any chemical additives), castile soap, and a large bar of homemade, natural soap for frothy, sulfate free lather.

I like this oil and have no issues with it.  I find that it is lasting a long time, despite almost daily use.  For more information on Phytopia, you can find them on Amazon.

TriNova Pet Stain & Odor Remover Review

We have had a terrible stomach virus going around our household the past week and a half. My husband had it for about 4 days, he was vomiting and dizzy, with aches and pains. Luckily he was more than able to make it to the toilet.  My 5 year old got it a few days after him and was able to make it to the toilet only half of the time.  I was changing her bedding at least once per day, and twice we had some issues on her carpet. I was able to clean up the mess but the carpet was badly stained and I knew I needed to use something on it. I luckily had been sent a pet stain and odor remover recently from TriNova for evaluation.  We do not have any pets, but since it was a natural cleaner I thought I would give it a try.

TriNova's Pet Stain & Odor Remover is a spray cleaner that has a blend of natural enzymes designed to penetrate stains and odors to clean and neutralize, and lift from fabrics and carpets.  TriNova has been designed to work effectively on a wide range of surfaces, including carpet, rugs, upholstery and more.  I had previously tried TriNova Castile Soap and liked it.  I felt it worked just as well as Dr. Bronner's that we use.  I was excited to try their stain remover.

I received the bottle and it was fully sealed and included the spray nozzle.  I was disappointed that the ingredients are not listed on the bottle.  I realize this is natural, but I was not happy that I could not see exactly what it contained.  The fragrance of the spray is a bit off putting to me, as I was expecting more of an essential oil smell such as peppermint, orange, or lavender.  It is a bit strong and perfume like.

I tried it on the vomit stain and it helped some, but the stain remained very yellow afterward and did not improve.  I realize I should have taken before and after pictures, but to be honest, in the heat of the moment, I was a bit overwhelmed and out of sorts cleaning all of her bedding and several spots on the floor (not to mention I needed to bathe her as well).  My 34 week pregnant body was already won out from the events of the day and my 2 year old was a bit of a distraction as well even in the play yard. :) I got out my carpet extractor and shampooer and used some of my Nellies Natural Laundry Soda, a little Oxygen powder, and water and was able to fully remove the stain.

I generally use Kids N Pets enzyme cleaner (we have been out of for a few months) which I have found effective for so many stains (even when we had an older dog years ago).  The Kids N Pets smells lighter and seems to work better.

Unfortunately the TriNova seemed to work best as a pre-treatment on the stain, but not as a stand alone product.  I also was not fond of the scent.  Perhaps if the fragrance could be either unscented or more natural smelling, I would be more excited to use it.  I like enzyme cleaners and find that they generally work, but it is possible that this was just a stubborn stain.  I only tested this out on the vomit stains in the carpet.  The fragrance is a bit too strong for me to try this on other areas.  With me being in my third trimester of pregnancy, certain fragrances bother me and this was one of them.

Although this stain remover spray did not work as for me, it may very well work for you.  I  do however recommend their Castile soap, and that you check out their website for a wide variety of natural cleaning products.

Magnesium Natural Sea Spray Deodorant (FRESH COCONUT & LIME) Review

I have been using natural deodorant for about 3 years.  I either make it myself or purchase it from a seller on Etsy or a website that has used ingredients that I love and trust.  Sadly a lot of the natural deodorants I have tried from Whole Foods or similar natural stores either do not work so well or they have Baking Soda (makes me itch and often get a rash).  I have found that Lavanila works well for me but it is pricy at about $15.   I have found that magnesium oil works well for me and I have made my own using Magnesium powder, coconut oil, aloe, and some essential oils.

I was excited when given the opportunity to review a Magnesium spray deodorant (I paid a discounted price) from Skin2Spirit.  This deodorant is a 4 oz spray and comes in several fragrances.  I selected coconut lime and am happy with my choice.

Magnesium Oil is made from Magnesium Chloride from the Dead Sea.  Magnesium is  a natural mineral with numerous health benefits and healing qualities.  Here are some of the issues and ailments that can be improved with a proper balance of magnesium in the body: anxiety, Restless Leg Syndrome, sleep disorders, sore muscles, cramps, depression, bowel health, joint pain, migraines and more.  In addition, since it is anti-microbial, it makes a wonderful deodorant as it can prevent odor and bacteria.

I have known of the wonders of Magnesium for a few years now and love finding ways to keep my body's levels on track.  I used to use the powdered Magnesium from Natural Vitality  (they have unflavored and various fruit versions) and mix into my orange juice or water.  I have yet to mix into my daily smoothie, but I am sure that is a fantastic option.  Magnesium is so beneficial and when you are lacking it, your body suffers.

I am loving this magnesium spray deodorant.  I do want to mention that if your body is severely lacking magnesium, or if you are new to using Magnesium as a body spray on your under arms or anywhere else, you may have a slight tinging or even a stinging sensation for up to a week, perhaps a bit longer.  This is normal and is not necessarily a sign that you will be sensitive to using this product.

I also want to mention, that if you are new to natural deodorants, your body will go through a detox period of anywhere between 2 weeks and a month.  (Meaning it may seem that you are not smelling as fresh as you like in that time period.)  I have gone 3 years without using mainstream deodorants and and when I was in the detox phase I almost gave up.  I am so glad I stuck with it, as I have less body odor than when I used the extra strength products.  I used to Use Lady Mitchem and Clinical Strength deodorants.  Those were full of chemicals and Aluminum Zirconium which is used as an antiperspirant in many deodorant products. It is particularly harmful as it obstructs pores in the skin and prevents sweat from leaving the body.  Our bodies are meant to sweat, as it is a way for the body to breathe and remove toxins.  I do want to tell you that since I have been using natural deodorants, I actually feel fresher, smell fresher and my sweating is less, but at a natural and balanced state.  I find this deodorant spray to work well and I use it alone as well as in addition to my other natural deodorants.

Ingredients:

Purified Water, Organic Aloe, Magnesium Chloride, Witch Hazel (alcohol free), Essential Oils and / or Natural Flavors / Scents, Glycerine, Potassium Sorbate, Silver Dihydrogen Citrate, Citric Acid (Vitamin C), Water

MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE OIL: Pure and natural from the Dead Sea, antiviral, antimicrobial, helps reduce odor from bacteria

ORGANIC ALOE: Moisturizer, emollient, and excellent for scars, burns, rashes, and dry skin.

WITCH HAZEL (Alcohol Free): Soothing, natural astringent to help alleviate stinging for sensitive skin. Antibacterial & anti-inflammatory

ESSENTIAL OILS: Including Tea Tree, a natural antibacterial and anti-fungal solution from the Melaleuca tree

SILVER CITRATE / POTASSIUM SORBATE: When combined make a powerful broad spectrum antimicrobial that helps stop odor in its tracks

Apply 3-4 sprays to underarms after shower or bath - again at night if needed.  Please note that it may sting on freshly shaven underarms.  I spray this on my chest between my cleavage and under my chest area to stay fresh and smelling pretty.  This is so refreshing especially in the hot summer months when I tend to perspire in those areas.  The manufacturer states this bottle will last 6 months, I am not so sure my bottle will last last long as I use it on my chest areas as well.  I have used quite a lot of my bottle in one month of daily use (about 1/4).  I would possibly say that 3 months is how long my bottle will last me, but still for roughly $12, even 3 months use is great.  I highly recommend this product.

Mamaway Postpartum Belly Band (Cesarian or Natural Birth) Pregnancy and Beyond Review

I have tried numerous belly bands for pregnancy and postnatal support.  I was recently sent a belly band complimentary from Mamaway to evaluate.  I am using it during my last month of pregnancy to support my back, and excess weight from my expanding belly.  I am packing it in my hospital bag to use after my cesarian. It is very pricy, however I have tried at least 6-10 different bands, support tanks, etc. (both purchased by myself and some sent for review and this one is the most well made and comfortable. You definitely get what you pay for. It is a bamboo charcoal mix and breathable.  The material used is what they refer to a "Nano-bamboo charcoal", which is known for its powerful anti-odor and antibacterial properties.

12% Polyester, 48% Nylon, 20% Bamboo Charcoal, 20% Rubber

This charcoal material prevents bacteria and odor buildup when you're wearing it.  This also makes the bamboo fibers breathable, soft and non-irritating, so you stay cool, dry and supported.  This is a very soft material, and has a brushed fiber feel to it.  I wear it around the house and often when we go out on errands.  I have not needed to wash mine yet, but I am happy to know that cleaning it is easy. You can toss it in the washing machine in a laundry bag without worrying about damaging it.  I would suggest washing on cold and hanging to dry.  Shrinkage during washing and drying is said to be minimal.

I decided to get the largest size for use while I am pregnant as I am getting larger each week. The beauty of this band is that it can be cinched much smaller and I will have no issues using it after baby arrives.  I am sure I will look about 5 months pregnancy the first 3 months.

I really recommend getting a nice quality belly band.
