Nora's Brushes - Oval Brush Set (Makeup Brush Set Review)

I have wanted to try these "toothbrush" type makeup brushes ever since I saw them on a youtube channel (I am such an insomniac and love binge watching beauty guru videos late at night). I was provided this set from Nora's Brushes (there are numerous brands that make these, but this is one that I have experience with) and are being sold from Little Red Gift (Amazon Seller). I have a mini review of them for you.

These are my first of this type of oval "toothbrush face brush". They take some practice but are definitely fun to use. I am sure I will get better at using them as I learn.  I am not sure I will get much use from the tiny or thin ones. The eyeliner brush I most likely won't use (and have not used yet) as I like a sharp, cat eye liquid black liner. I am sure it would be great for a smokey smudged liner look. I am happy to see that there are some suggestions of how to use each brush (on the Amazon listing).

I got a freebie silicone sponge with the set (hidden under the black plastic tray) which was a nice surprise in the box. I am pretty devoted to my hot pink beauty blender sponge, so I am not sure how often I will use the silicone sponge. It also feels weird in my hand.  Very Weird Indeed.

I will try to post some mucky foundation brush photos shortly (brushes with actual foundation and powder yuckiness).  I normally post pictures before using (dirtying the product).  I am a messy makeup keeper.  I clean my brushes and sanitize them and everything,  But for the time that I am using a cosmetic product ongoing (before the big washing), I have makeup powder, foundation, and lotion smudges all over my stuff.  Not so pretty.

I will get the most use from the 3 or 4 biggest oval brushes.  I think this is a nice set and I am pleased that so far I have not had any shedding.  The brush hairs are soft.  These are attractive looking and the font is nicely done as well.  There was not much (if any) of a chemical odor, which was a blessing (my experience from many makeup brush sets I have tested in the past).  I think this would make a nice gift for someone and the price is great considering there are other more expensive sets out there.

Queen Rose U Shaped Pregnancy Body Pillow (Review)

I wanted to do a short review on a pillow I was sent recently for my unbiased opinion. I am not pregnant, but as I have back pain almost daily and frequent insomnia, and so I thought I might try something new for support. We do have a Tempur-Pedic bed that works to some extent, but I think it is too soft and does not support my back as much as I need. I am a side sleeper and I also toss and turn a lot. I use a pillow under my head, on top of my head, clutched in my arms, and in between my knees. :) We have a queen size bed so already there is not much excess space, and I am thinking of adding a GIANT crazy shaped pillow?? Yes. I might as well try.

This is 100% Cotton and looks very similar to most pregnancy pillows I have seen. In fact, it was interesting to note that the pillow was packaged twice (with pillow directions for the actual brand of the pillow as well as the pillow under the Queen Rose Amazon store name) inside the cardboard shipping box. It seems this might be a generic or wholesale brand that can be sold under the name/branding of other stores.

This oversized, U-shaped pillow is designed to follow the natural shape of a woman's pregnant body. As a woman's belly expands and the baby gets bigger (taking up more space and putting a strain on the mother's organs and such) back pain is inevitable. Support is needed to provide some relief.

While I am not pregnant, I have seen others use this type of pillow effectively for reducing strain and providing a more comfortable sleep. This can be used for drug-free pain relief and comfort (whilst sleeping) for people with all many types of health issues such as fibromyalgia, sciatica, gastric reflux, congestion, carpal tunnel syndrome, and the like.

I do not use it as pictured in the first (stock) photo. I found that the pillow was not comfortable on my head and was not more comfortable than my memory foam pillow (Sleep Number CoolFit Foam Contour Pillow).  This was much too stiff and overstuffed for my head or neck.  I decided to flip the pillow around and have the U-shaped area at my knees/legs/feet. This worked much better for me. I am able to use this for pillow clutching (like a large teddy bear) and knee support. The U-shape still helps with back support as well.

This maternity body pillow has been used for nursing my baby as well. It is also a great lounging pillow. Overall I like this pillow a lot. It does take an incredible amount of room in the bed and I dislike when I need to get out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom as it takes a few extra moments to get fully situated and comfortable again.  I like how it aligns my knees and provides support for my back.

I am pleased that the cover unzips for washing, however, would have liked a much softer pillow case included.  I also do not think white is practical.  There are pink and blue options, however, they seem to be more pastel shades.

This was sent to me complimentary for review. This is my honest opinion.

Queen Rose provides 30-day refund or exchange GUARANTEE if you are not satisfied with the body pillow.

Luming Premium All Natural Cold Baked Rose Flower Tea Review

I love drinking tea as it is healthy, aromatic, and flavorful. Tea can be beneficial in healing health conditions, detoxing, relieving stress as well as be used topically on skin and hair. I always prefer using whole, loose leaf or flower teas instead of bagged teas that have been shredded to small fibers and potentially processed.  I find it relaxing to drink tea hot in the evenings or in cooler months. I love using fragrant floral teas to naturally nourish my skin and hair.  You can brew tea, allow it to cool, then put it in a spray bottle to spritz your hair or face.  This is very soothing, especially if you put the bottle in the fridge!

I was recently sent a rose tea from Luming Tea, complimentary for review.  It comes in a gorgeous cardboard box that is sturdy and fits together in 2 pieces.  The tea itself is packaged inside a bag that keeps it fresh and locks out light.  According to the manufacturer, this rose tea has approximately 60 to 65 rose blooms which make approximately 30  7 oz. servings.  These are dried rose blooms and not only are these beautiful and aromatic, but this "tea" has no preservatives, additives or artificial ingredients.  These are "cold baked" which keeps maintains the potency of freshness and purity.

I like this "rose tea" and use it mainly for spritzing my hair and face.  I do not drink it as I generally enjoy the flavor of Jasmine floral, peppermint or herbal teas over rose.  I do enjoy the fragrance of this tea and how it makes my hair and skin feel.  I also mix the tea with my natural shampoo.

Lavilin's Underarm Deodorant Cream Review

I have been using natural and aluminum free deodorants for several years now.  I have less odor, regulated my sweating to a natural and more balanced level, while also not absorbing harmful chemicals into my body.  One of the deodorants I have tried recently is Lavilin.  This is quite a unique deodorant in that not only is it cream in texture and consistency, but it is said to work for up to 7 days after one application.  I love this product as the packaging is attractive, yet also easy to take along in travel.  There is nothing to spill and it sets nicely on the vanity.  I love that it comes with a dipper to keep fingernails clean.  The scent is unisex and fresh.  I do use a small amount daily after my shower, however, you can use it once every few days.  I like to freshly shave any stubble under my arms and apply this deodorant cream (after a nice hot shower).  I have tested this product previously when in the hospital when I had my baby (last year).  I did not shower the first 2 days as I had a Cesarean.  This worked very well.  This product is meant to be used once every 7 days or when needed.  It will get used up quicker if used as often as I use it and could get costly at the retail price.

I always use natural based products and this deodorant has plant extracts and oils to help prevent odor without interfering with the body's natural cheistry.  Pores are not clogged and the body can still sweat when needed.  It is healthy to sweat as it releases toxins and cools the body.

I like how this is baking soda free as well.  While most natural based deodorants include baking soda due to its deodorizing abilities, I am highly sensitive to baking soda.  It irritates my skin and causes redness.  Lavilin does not cause any irritation and works incredibly well.  I find that the zinc oxide is the star ingredient.  I have used zinc oxide based creams in the past (same ingredient in sunblock) with wonderful results.

I was sent this particular Lavilin jar complimentary for review.  This is my honest opinion of it.  I have used it previously in the past and always have positive results.
  • One application lasts up to 7 days
  • Aluminum-free, alcohol-free and paraben-free formula that won't clog pores
  • Hypo-allergenic and suitable for delicate skin
  • Bathing, showering, sports and strenuous physical activities do not interfere with Lavilin's effectiveness
  • Proven effective—tested extensively at a leading international research center
Product Ingredients:
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil & Hydrogenated Castor Oil & Copernica Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax,  Zinc Oxide, Potato Starch (modified), Talc (pharma), Triethyl Citrate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Glycine Soya, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lactose, Milk Protein, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Fragrance, O-Cymen-5-Ol.

Grass Door Mat (Generic) Review

We are loving our faux grass mat in front of our door, it gives a slight retro feel which is something we like. We had decided it was finally time to retire our door mat of 10 years. It still looked ok, and definitely was more than functional, but was noticeably faded from years of sun and worn away in several spots. We were given the opportunity to review a plastic grass mat and among the sizes available, I selected the largest, which is 24x48. I am happy about the sizing as something smaller would have been much smaller than what would have fit the space. I never considered our front door area as larger than others, but a small mat would have looked silly in my opinion.

The mat arrived rolled up in a large box straight from Amazon. It was easy to unroll and set up within moments. It did take about 2-3 days for it to lay flat on the concrete porch, but was a beautiful mat from the start. It is a lovely bright "grass" green and brightens our aged, cracking concrete porch and front door area. We have have had it for a month and it has only minimal soiling. If it gets muddy or dirty, the company advises to spray it down or run it directly under water.

I did want to mention, that with most all the items that I review, it was sent to me complimentary for my opinion and review. I was not compensated for this post other than the item being sent to me for free. I always mention when an item is not up to par. A lot of the items I review are smaller company brands or generic. This mat does not appear to have a noticeable branding on it, but this does not affect my pinion of it. While generic items often do not have the quality, durability or workmanship of a well known brand that has been around for years, I find this mat functions and looks as nice as one of the bigger manufacture brand grass mats.

Tinker Block Toys - Building Blocks Set (Safari) Review

I was sent another bristle comb set from the same company that I reviewed recently. In my previous review, I mentioned that these are very similar to the similar well known bristle block toys. This brand is "Tinker Blocks." I do find it slightly confusing as the name reminds me of Tinker toys which is a vintage toy that is quite different than these. This particular building set consists of 100 various shapes and styles of bristle blocks and 3 safari figures (1 man, a zebra and lion). The colors are bright and this toy keeps my almost 3 year old (an his 6 year old sister) happy for a good hour or more at a time. This set is very similar to the farm set that I reviewed, except for the figures. I like having the 2 sets of  blocks when 2 or more children are playing. I like that this set also has a reusable zippered tote bag for easy clean up and storage. This set does have 100 blocks, while the farm set has 150. Both children enjoy this toy and I love that there are no sounds or flashing lights.

I do notice that there is a bit of paint fume odor that takes a couple days to air out. The figures are not as nice quality as I would have liked. (same quality as the farm set). I do not have any issues with the bristle blocks. The pieces fit together flush and for now, there has not been any broken pieces after a month of normal play.  The wheels are by far the favorite for both children.  I would recommend doubling the amount of wheels in each bag.  We like this set and recommend it.  At the current price of under $20, it compares to similar items of other brands.

This was sent to me for review, and I was not compensated for this post (other than being sent the item complimentary for review purposes).

Tinker Block Toys - Building Blocks Set (Farm) Review

We do not purchase electronic toys for our children. We like imaginative, creative, and educational toys. As babies, our children do not play with the typical loud (and yes quite annoying) music toys that flash lights. For our 3 children, we like traditional toys like blocks, dolls, houses, stuffed animals, and cars. I cringe a little when I see children barely 3 or 4 with a tablet or video game. My daughter is 6 and is just barely learning about computers at school (I am happy that we waited). We do not have cable, and the only tv the kids watch is perhaps 2-3 hours weekly of public broadcasting children's educational shows.

I was sent a bristle comb set that is reminiscent of the similar style toys that I grew up loving. This "Tinker Blocks" building set consists of 150 various blocks (and bars, shapes, etc.) as well as wheels and 5 farm figures. The colors are bright and this toy keeps my almost 3 year old (an his 6 year old sister) happy for a good hour or more at a time. I like that this has a reusable zippered tote bag for easy clean up and storage and enough pieces for the 2 children to share (and play together peacefully). Both children love making cars and various things that roll along. The wheels really move! I would recommend the company adding an extra set of 4 wheels so that there are more options.

My only complaint is that right out of the box there is a bit of paint fume odor that takes a couple days to air out. The figures (farmer and animals) are not as nice quality as I would have liked. They are indeed adorable (except the farmer has some strange brown lips and is the least cute of the set) and increase the playability (and imagination) of the bristle blocks, but are painted poorly and uneven. The bottoms of some of the characters is messy. I like how the figures clip onto the bristle blocks. Despite the odor and the uneven paint of the figures, I still give this set a 4 out of 5 and highly recommend it!

This was sent to me for review, and I was not compensated for this post (other than being sent the item complimentary for review purposes).
