Stainless Steel Straws (bent) Review

I love using reusable stainless steel straws. I already had a set of 5 thick smoothie worthy straws that I use when I make frozen matcha tea or frozen banana vanilla almond milk smoothies. My first set of straws were straight, but recently a different company sent me some tester straws that were bent and I love them even more! This is a set of 6 straws, with 2 cleaning bristle brushes included. The straws measure 8.5 inches long from top to bottom and are skinny, however they are about the size of normal disposable straws. They just look slim when next to my thick ones. :)

The stainless steel straws are unbreakable (at least from normal use they won't) and they are eco friendly. My favorite thing about them is that they make any cold drink a blizzardly cold treat. I use these when I drink my ice tea or frosty drinks. My smoothies fit through the straw without issue. I also like how they are bent. If only I had these when I was pregnant a few months back and notorious for spilling my drink on my large tummy due to being distracted at the computer while drinking through them. I find they are easier to use with a bend to the structure. I wash these in my dishwasher on top rack with no issue. I like how they come with 2 cleaning brushes.

These are reasonably priced and found on Amazon.

InviCible Scars Advanced Scar Treatment Review

I have fairly clear skin now that I frequently oil cleanse my face and only use natural cleansers, however I occasionally get a painful cystic acne bump that stays red and irritated for a few days to a whole week before going away. I also have large pores on my nose, chin and cheeks that often make me self conscious. I am a firm believer in Vitamin C serums for the face and use various products containing this daily. I have some cleansers, facial toner spray, serums and lotions and apply them at least once, but often twice per day. Vitamin C is wonderful for complexion as it heals and clears skin.

I was recently sent a serum that is meant to be used twice daily with your makeup and moisturizing routine. I apply it after cleansing, and toning before my makeup, and then apply my BB cream with a wet beauty blender sponge. The serum is call InvinCible Scars and claims to fades scars, dark spots and hyper pigmentation.   It is also intended to be used as primer under any foundation or bb cream.  It contains silicone and is able to blur imperfections and deep pores as it appears to temporarily fill them.  Makeup is able to glide over skin and appears almost airbrushed.  What I like about this product is that is contains 17% Vitamin C, Aloe Vera and botanical extracts and oils.  It has very little scent and is gentle to my skin.

Ingredients:
Silicone (Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer), Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate), ProBiosyn-4TM (Sunflower Seed Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Licorice Extract)

The company sent me a full size tube complimentary to test for a little over a month.  This is my honest evaluation of the product.  I have fairly clear skin so my results may not be as drastic as other users.  I did have one problem area on my chin/lower cheek area this month and so was happy to apply this serum over that area to see if it would calm the skin and heal the blemish quickly.  I applied the serum daily over my entire face before makeup application and then in the evenings before bedtime, after my face was completely clean.

Notice the red blemish near my chin, and my large orange peel pores.   I also have dark underage circles, however  those are due to lack of sleep (insomnia, and a newborn baby, 2 year old and 5 year old) and heredity.

This picture is about 1 week into using the product.

The large blemish seemed to clear up about 4 days after the initial application over the troubled spot.  I applied this product daily and was happy that my makeup applied smoothly and my pores were blurred.  I do want to mention that you should not use too generous of an application of serum.  The few times I went overboard would make a film over my skin and if I scratched or touched my face during the course of the day with my fingers, I would often get a mixture of tinted bb cream / foundation and the serum under my fingernails.  I want to mention if is not really the fault of the product, I have had this happen with other similar dimithicone / silicone based primers.  I recommend using a small amount for best results.

Other than that issue, I like this product a lot and think it works well.  My only recommendation would be for this to come in an airless pump container, as I prefer those.

Directions:
Apply InviCible at least twice a day directly onto the affected area. Continue using InviCible until you stop seeing an improvement, which can take 12 weeks. You can apply your daily skin-care regimen and make-up over InviCible. Apply sunblock to prevent worsening of scars and dark spots.

For more information, you can visit InvinCible on their website or Facebook.

Enlightened Ambience Tealight Candles Review

I was recently sent (scent, haha) some tea light candles from Enlightened Ambience.  I love using candles for ambience (like the name implies) and fragrance.  I am always fond of either deep musky vanilla or sandalwood scents or baked goods.  The company sent me a bulk box of 24 candles for review.  These are Black Amber scented votive with a hint of enticing Sandalwood.  These are said to be long burning (14-16 hours) although I have not tested the exact length of time.  I go through candles frequently so was happy to have so many to test.  These are hand poured in the U.S.A. with a cotton wick.  These measure 2 inches tall, they seem pretty standard in size.

Tea lights may seem to some individuals, a rather one function item.  Often when you think of tea lights you do not get very excited as they are so small and can only just sit on a decorative plate, but for me, I use them to give new life to tired, worn out candles that have no wick left and are stuck in their jar, unloved and unused.  I had 2 small Mason jar candles from a few months ago that I did not know what to do with.  I wanted to keep them as I loved the jar, but the wick was buried inside the candle so I used 2 of these candles to reuse the jar.  It may look a little strange at first since the tea light is sticking up, but after a few short hours, it evens across when it melts and looks like a normal candle.  I realize this is too-toned and it would be ideal to use the same color tea light.  My previous candle was vanilla cream so it blends well fragrance wise.

These functioned just as I would hope and expect from a candle.  They smelled nice, but if you are sensitive, please note that this particular one is VERY potent when opening the box, and lasts for several days before toning down.  I actually stowed an un-lit tealight in several nooks of my home to act as an air refresher.

These were sent to me complimentary, and all opinions are my own.  These are available on Amazon and are priced at just under $30 for the set of 24.

100% New Zealand Wool Dryer Balls from Buttons Diapers (Review)

I love wool. I think that is an understatement as my collection of wool is rapidly growing now that I have 2 in diapers. Pictured is about HALF my collection of wool longies, shorties, and wool diaper covers. The other half is air drying as I recently hand washed some.  I purchase my wool diapers from etsy sellers who make these out of gently used cashmere and merino wool sweaters.  Please excuse the poor excuse for a storage rack. I rescued an unloved (or maybe it was just REALLLLLY loved and that is why it is so pitiful) towel rack that goes over the door. It was missing the end caps that hold the bars in place (hence the hair ties) and also was missing the middle bar (I really need that extra storage bar...if only i had it). Wool is magical, it can absorb up to 30 % its own weight in liquid and when urine is in contact with it, it does some sort of scientific chemistry and converts the urine to salt water. Odors are gone and the wool is magically sanitized and ready for the next use. I only need to hand wash my wool diaper covers if they get soiled with yucky or if it has been a long while (like once a month). I hand wash with a lanolin and natural soap.

Side note: I love to pin our diapers! I use actual vintage diaper pins (because vintage items are fun and often made much better).  I store my pins in a bar of natural soap inside a muslin bag.  :) It makes them glide into the cotton fabric better.

Buttons wool dryer balls added to my collection (notice they are brighter as they are newer, but they do have spots on some)

Anyway, today I am going to tell you about my dryer ball collection. Yep, I have a collection of those too. I had 15 or so last time I counted and today I will tell you about my newest 6! :)

Buttons Diapers has their own branded wool dryer balls and sent me a pack of 6 to try out this past month. We have not used dryer sheets for 3-4 years and do not miss them at all. I cannot stand the fake, overly perfume scent of dryer sheets. It gives me a headache as they are super strong and the scents are not natural. Wool dryer balls (felted) work so much better and the laundry comes out smelling like clean laundry and not like a cheap smelling room deodorizer. (like those cone shaped jelly type ones from the store that have the plastic sliding cover that you can control the scent, but they stink no mater what kind you get, or at least I think they do). :)

Buttons dryer balls come in a nice cotton (muslin) draw string storage bag. They are a set of 6 handmade 100% New Zealand wool dryer balls and contain no fillers. They work wonderfully to soften laundry. It is recommended to use 3 balls for small/med load and 5-6 for large loads. I think I use all 15 most days and had added the new ones in my testing period. :) It does not cause any issues and the clothing is always soft and very fluffy.  My cotton prefold diapers are so soft!

These dryer balls are 9 in. circumference, according to Buttons (I have not verified this with my measuring tape, but they look similar in size to my other balls.)  I do notice that these have brown spots on them, but as wool is natural, I am not worried.  These buttons wool balls are also a more misshapen ball than my others.  This has no effect on how soft or dry my clothes get, it is again only cosmetic.

Wool dryer balls are a much healthier option than fabric softener and dryer sheets. They work wonderfully as they shorten drying time, soften and fluff fabric, and can reduce static. They are great for softening cloth diapers (we use mainly cotton prefolds and Green mountain Diapers workhorse fitted diapers) and all laundry! Since I do not use bleach or oxy powders, I sun all stains outside on my laundry drying rack. When our diapers get stained, I put the freshly washed, still damp diapers outside and let the sun work its wonders for a few hours, and lift out the stains. I then put the diapers in the dryer on low for about 20 minutes to fluff them back up (wet diapers outside get a bit stiff and rough to the touch). We use the organic cotton workhorses (shown above) and so these dryer balls make the already soft organic cotton even better!

These will pill (as you can see with my older dryer balls from other companies, but the pilling does not harm the clothes or dryer, it just does not look as nice.

I have no complaints with this set and find it compares to my other brands. Now please note, I DO NOT put my wool sweaters or diaper covers or any other wool items in the dryer. ONLY THESE DRYER BALLS. Wool will felt and shrink and become stiff. These are meant to be in the dryer and have been felted for heat. When I wash my woolen items, I use room temperature water, hand wash and air dry.

These were sent to me complimentary for my honest evaluation and review. I was not compensated for this post and did not promise a certain rating.

YourEcoFamily Certified Organic Cotton Receiving Blanket Review

This organic cotton receiving blanket / swaddling blanket from Your Eco Family is very well made and comfortable for baby.  We have the white, which is classy and looks terrific for both genders.  I also selected white as it is easier to coordinate with our other accessories.  My little guy is 2 months old and we use this when he falls asleep in his Mamaroo swing. (We only put this on him when we are in the same room, next to him to watch him closely, so that he does not pull this over his face).

This has a gentle stretch to it and is perfect for swaddling.  He is beginning to get out of the swaddling stage as he is a wiggler, but this would be wonderful for newborn babies.   I love how soft and breathable this blanket is and how is is made from organically grown cotton.

The 40" x 40" size makes this a versatile blanket for babies as young as newborns up to the late toddler stage.  I am thinking this will work as a small toddler sleeping blanket when he is age 2-3.  This multi-use blanket can be used as a swaddling blanket, tummy time, cover for stroller, crib, bassinet, cradle, etc.  Please do not leave baby unattended with this blanket and if used with a stroller or carseat, please follow safety instructions and do not completely cover baby or have the blanket interfere with the straps.  It would be best to not use when the car seat is in the car.

I like this blanket and we use it almost daily.  It keeps him from drafts or highly air conditioned areas.  This could act as a nursing cover on the go or as a clean blanket space for play in a public area.  It washes in the machine easily and still looks great after a month of daily use.  It has a nice ribbed texture and a thick, finished edge.  I thought the stitching was neatly done.

This was sent to me for review (complimentary) however this is my experience of this blanket and personal opinion.  For more information on this product and the company, you can find their products on Amazon.
