Cassani Fogless Shower Mirror: Reviewed

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I recently started wet shaving about 2 months ago with a vintage Lady Gillette 1963 starburst double edge safety razor on my legs. It is a luxurious experience and works better than any modern razor I have used. I used to be a Venus gal, but I am a convert to shaving the old fashioned way. As many of you may know, I was pregnant in my third trimester just a month ago (now my son is here and I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and feeling much more mobile). Shaving was incredibly difficult to do. I have a shower chair in my tub/shower and always sit on it to shave my legs, however, I was terrified to use a double edge safety razor on my back of my legs, behind my knees and back of my upper leg/thighs. I simple could not see, my third trimester belly was in the way, my mobility was altered, and I was super clumsy.

I had the opportunity to review a shower mirror from the Cassani company. It arrived in the mail and the box was a bit beat up and I was not so sure about the product at first. It looked like a simple shower mirror and I felt underwhelmed at first. Being female, I do not shave my face, so I was not completely sure if this mirror was going to be of use to me. My husband has his own shower and I use the bathroom with the tub/shower combo. I decided to put this in my bathroom so I could see my face when cleaning off my black mascara and dark eye liner as I frequently wear a 60's cat eye winger liner look. I figured even using the mirror for just making sure my eye makeup was fully removed was worth the trouble to add it to my shower. The Cassani Fogless Mirror has added width and height to match the shape of ones face and neckline, the size of this mirror is 7-1/2" x 5-3/4.

It was super easy to install. I suggest cleaning the shower wall first, then making sure the surface is very dry, then use some rubbing alcohol on the wall before placing the wall mounts adhesive. It includes a stainless steel razor hook, and the stainless steel hook for holding the mirror. This mirror is different than other shower mirrors on the market as it is truly fogless. It is infused with "anti-fog nanotechnology" which sounds both space age and a teeny bit corny, but to be honest I do not care if it is corny because this mirror really works well. It is fogless, even with my super hot and steamy showers. The mirror has a special coating that is infused directly into the reflective surface of the mirror to repel fog. For this reason you cannot and should not use anything but water to clean this mirror so as not to be too abrasive with the special coating. I like how this mirror can be removed from the hook when needed. This is what makes it truly a wonderful product and let me tell you why...

Well, as I mentioned, I was VERY pregnant when this mirror arrived. I was not about to be one of those ladies who neglects shaving her legs for a few weeks (or months) just because she cannot see her legs due to her massive pregnant belly (lol I talking to you sister of mine! lol!) I was using my vintage double edge safety razor, which if you have ever used a safety razor, you know you must go slow and use short, careful strokes and take your time. The blades are sharp and more precise than modern razors, and cuts can occur if you are not careful. I am getting quite proficient in my double edge safety shaving, however, my back of my legs and back of knees were difficult to see with limited mobility and a pregnant belly in the way. I did not want to guess where to guide the razor. I then had an idea to remove the Cassani mirror from the hook and hold it behind my leg as I shaved! I was able to see where I was shaving and had no trouble at all.

I recommend this mirror as it is reasonably priced on Amazon and it is lightweight and stays put on the shower wall. It works well and is useful. I also will use this mirror for applying my facial oils in the shower when I do my oil cleansing. I hang my shower puffs on the razor hooks instead of my razor simply because my razor is chrome and vintage and if it fell on the floor of the tub it may get damaged. I love my 1963 Lady Gillette blue starburst razor and it is truly a gem of a gal. Now if I can get my hands on the almost rare
pink one without paying a small fortune...

The Cassani Mirror has a "hassle-free 100% money back guarantee" if you are not fully satisfied.

Asher And Watson Set Sail: A Pirate's Book For Children: Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Asher Barry receives a toy sailboat for his birthday and plays with it in his bath tub before dinner. Asher and his favorite pal Watson (who also happens to be a puppy) are having fun in the safe confines of his tub when suddenly Watson knocks over an entire bottle of bubbles. Asher then, in his make believe world suddenly was transported into a faraway and dangerous land where caterpillars are as big as buses and pirates roam and steal treasure.

Will Asher and Watson make it through the storm and find the buried treasure? You will have to read and find out for yourself!

Imagination is important to a child's psychological, social, and emotional well being and growth. When a child engages in pretend (or dramatic) play, they are learning about their surroundings and the world around them. Asher is a boy with a vivid imagination and traveled to another world with his best pal.

Julie Schoen author and mom to a little boy named Asher, wrote this book showing us just how wild and adventurous a little kid's imagination can be. Asher had some challenges along the way and we see how he is able to overcome them.

This is a cute little story that I read to my 3 year old daughter. She liked seeing the brightly colored pictures and especially loved Watson.
I read it to her twice and then she has carried it to her little story book corner and has looked it over on her own as well. My only critique would be that most if not all my pages had a greenish line of ink transfer on the text pages. Also the front cover graphics looked a bit squished or distorted to fit to the page. I am not sure if my booklet had a printing error or not.

This book is available in paperback or kindle form on Amazon.

Healing Tree Bamboo Charcoal Soap GIVEAWAY! (Review)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I am using a new soap! It is from The Healing Tree company. It is a black bar 100% pure bamboo charcoal and glycerin soap made with 4 simple Ingredients: Vegetable Oil, Water, Glycerin, and Bamboo Charcoal. I have been using more natural products for over a year now. I have gone completely sulfate free and mainly oil and steam cleanse my face. My skin looks better now at 31 then it did when I was in my twenties---no breakouts and my skin is super soft and glowing. This black bar of soap contains glycerin which I love. I have been adding vegetable glycerin to my facial oil cleansing routine as an added humectant / moisturizer. It attracts moisture to the skin and locks it in, causing radiant, healthy skin. Pure Vegetable Glycerin is also a skin cleanser that also provides softening and lubricating benefits. Bamboo charcoal is great for your skin as it is effective at drawing out pollutants and impurities from deep inside skin pores. This charcoal is what’s known as “activated” bamboo charcoal that has been pulverized and steamed, undergoing a high heat firing process to create "high absorbency properties" that will cleanse your skin.

This soap is gentle and effective in skin cleansing. I have used it nightly for over a week and am loving the way my skin feels. I do not have acne, however, my nose and cheeks often have blackheads. I have been also testing out a Konjac Cleansing Sponge and these 2 work great together for clearing out my pores. I like to use my vitamin c serum after cleansing and then a few drops of argan oil or rose hip seed oil for added skin luxury.

Bamboo Charcoal Soap Benefits:

Remove Dead Skin Cells
Unclogs Pores
Smoother Skin
Natural Ingredients
Hypoallergenic
Detoxifying
Fragrance Free

I do have 2 complaints about this soap, it does get a bit messy when wet as it is black. It does not stain, so I am happy. I do need to wipe up the sink counter after washing as it does get some black sudsy water drips after I wash. The other negative is that this is made in China. I wish it was made in the USA.

I really like this soap. I suggest trying it out if you are looking for a hypoallergenic charcoal soap and glycerin soap. Check out The Healing Tree on facebook:

Rosehip Seed Oil & Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic and Ferulic Acid by InstaNatural: Reviewed

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I recently came across a company that makes several types of skin care oils and antiaging creams. The brand is InstaNatural. I have tried several of their products and I have to say that I am impressed. I was able to test out their rosehip seed oil and their vitamin c serum. I was very happy to see that their rosehip oil was a generous 4 oz when it arrived to me. That is fantastic, and is a great value for the money. I had heard of rosehip seed oil and its wonderful benefits to skin, however had never tried it for myself.

Rosehip Seed Oil helps diminish the appearance of scars, stretch marks and acne, other spots. I opened the container and revealed a light amber to yellow orange colored oil. Rosehip seed oil is considered a “dry” oil, meaning that it soaks into the skin easily, and does not leave a greasy residue. This is a benefit to me as I do not like when my fingers, hands, or face feel sticky or greasy. I applied some oil to my fingers and then applied to my face. It is a rather pungent smelling oil, not terrible, but definitely stronger in scent than other types of oils. To me, it smells oily, if that makes sense? :) This does not prevent me from using it, and it is not something other people would smell once this is on your face, so do not worry.

Rosehip seed oil is an excellent facial hydrator, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, and penetrates skin while reducing the appearance of scars and fine lines. It is able to help repair the skin's surface and restore elasticity. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and collagen and wrinkles occur. It contains Essential fatty acids, which are beneficial for healing the skin.

This InstaNatural Rosehip seed oil contains only 100% Pure Certified Organic Rosehip Seed Oil - No fillers, which is nice. I stay away from cosmetics that are filled with chemicals and hard to pronounce ingredients.

I oil cleanse my face each day (I use various oils and like to vary it what types I use)and do not use any sulfates or traditional soap based cleansers. Sulfates dry out skin and cause skin to actually produce more oil and breakouts. I have noticed a big improvement on my skin over the past year with just removing sulfates from my lifestyle. (I do not use traditional sulfate shampoo either). Sodium lauryl sulfate, a common ingredient added to face wash and cleansers to make soaps foam, is a chemical that is lurking in most of the products available today. I read labels and if it is in a product, I pass on using it. It strips the skin of natural oils that our skin needs for protection and moisture. When we use sulfates, our skin reacts and then tries to restore itself by producing more oil to compensate.

After washing my face with my usual jojoba oil, caster oil, grapeseed oil, and glycerin mixture, and then hot water facial cloth steaming, and closing the pores with cool water, I allow my face to dry. I then apply Vitamin C serum, and allow it to soak into my face. Since receiving the Rosehip seed oil, I have added it to my facial oil cleansing mixture. This oil doesn't clog my pores, and it has many skin loving and nourishing properties.

I have also used this Rosehip seed oil as a first aid oil for various cuts and rashes in this household. My husband has dry hands and knuckles and he has used this to soften and heal his skin when it cracks.

I also received the InstaNatural Vitamin C serum and have been testing that out as well. I apply it after my face is cleansed, steamed, cooled, and patted dry. I apply the Vitamin C serum as well as the InstaNatural Hyaluronic acid serum. The Vitamin C serum contains Vitamin C (20%) + E + Ferulic + Hyaluronic Acid, but as an added benefit, I use the stand alone Hyaluronic acid as well. I like the way my skin feels hydrated afterwards. The Vitamin C serum contains many beneficial ingredients, but the ones I love the most are the aloe vera, jojoba oil, witch hazel, and glycerin. Those ingredients work really well on my skin and are soothing.

I like both of these products and recommend them.

OvenArt Silicone Bakeware: Reviewed

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Tonight I was in the mood to make brownies. It is crazy, but I hated brownies as a kid. In fact it was not until about college when I was living on my own that I really began to love them. The thing is, my mom always made hers super cakey when we were growing up (that is how she liked them) and to me, it seemed like heavy non-moist fudgey chocolate cake---and she served it hot out of the oven. If I am going to have chocolate cake, which I LOOOOVE, I want it to be light, fluffy, and moist, and not resembling a somewhat fluffy but heavy brownie--and I want it super COLD from the fridge. All those years I would pass on brownies at birthday parties and church functions because I figured I was destined to hate brownies. Well one day I happened to try a CHEWY brownie, with very crunchy sides, and WOW, was I loving it! I could not believe what I was missing all my life. So now, I adore brownies, IF they are a little crunchy and chewy, cold from the fridge, and I wand an END PIECE. I picked up a box of Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix yesterday...this is suuuuuper chocolatey for all those chocoholics out there. I decided tonight was the night to make them since it was not too hot and it had rained all day and with the windows now open, there was a wonderful rainy wednesday night breeze. I hate heating up a kitchen in the summertime, so when you get a nice cool evening, you gotta take the opportunity to bake, especially if you have chocolate that NEEDS cooking. :)

I had received an OvenArt red silicone baking sheet a few weeks back that I had not yet had the chance to use. It is a gorgeous red color and looks classy in our pink, green, white kitchen (with accents of red strawberry decor). I have never had a red baking sheet and so this was a treat as it looks so fun and adds a pop of color. I am not a stranger to silicone bakeware, we had some pink silicone bakeware purchased for us from our wedding registry, however, the light pink color stained easily and after years of stains, we sadly had to say goodbye to it. This cupcake baking sheet is floppier than my pink one and after looking over the product, it has been said that the reason for this is that it does not have plastic filler in it to make it stiff.

This pan is standard cupcake pan / muffin tin size: 12.8 x 9.7 x 1.2 inches. It is safe for use in the oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher according to the manufacturer. The company stands behind their products with their 100% "Better Muffin" Lifetime Guarantee. This silicone muffin pan made from 100% BPA-free, plastic filler-free, premium silicone. You do not need to worry about chemical coatings leeching into your food and harming you and your loved ones. Metal pans are heavy, ugly, they rust and wear down with continued use. Baked on food is time consuming to clean and scrape even after soaking in the sink.

I decided to put my brownies in the muffin pan as I wanted ALL END PIECES. :) I also knew it would be another late night with my newborn and I did not want to be up late cleaning a baking pan that may get crusty and messy.

Because of the top quality silicone used in this pan (no plastic fillers like cheaper versions) it is floppier and I did have difficulty putting it in the oven with my oven mits, so you might want to put it on a baking sheet before putting it in and when taking it out of the oven to stabilize it. I thought of this only AFTER these were almost done baking.

After the brownies were done, I took this out and even though it was still crazy hot, I tested the ease of taking a brownie out. It did not stick, and only left a slight moist brownie residue. This can be washed out by hand or put in the top rack of the dishwasher.

This is a high-quality silicone muffin pan, and truly non-stick. I liked using it and we will continue using it in this household. I can see us using this for sweet corn muffins or banana nut bread muffins, or any other baking treat. I think this would be nice for mini cheesecake desserts...yummy!

Amara Organics Vitamin C Serum: Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I love using cosmetics, but what I love even more is when I know they are natural, made in the USA, and good for my skin. Amara Organics gave me the opportunity to review their Vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is wonderful to take internally, however, it has been found that topical use often works even better. I have tried various Vitamin C serums, and so far have lucked out, they all have worked nicely for me. This brand is no exception. Amara Organics Vitamin C serum is sold exclusively at Amazon.com.

Amara's serum includes Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E for extra powerful anti-aging effects. Hyaluronic acid is an excellent moisturizer that restores skins firmness, natural resilience and is beneficial for skin health. Vitamin E is essential for wound healing, it lubricates the skin and forms a protective barrier. Vitamin E also promotes collagen production, which is necessary for anti-aging and restoring of skin elasticity. Vitamin C Reduces inflammation and improves cell renewal. One of the first places that is usually affected by wrinkles and fine lines is the skin underneath our eyes. This skin is thin and delicate, and should be handled with care. I am not yet showing wrinkles on my skin, however, my eyelids and under eye area have some slight loss of elasticity and I always make sure to apply my Vitamin C serum and other oils delicately. It is important to use your ring finger when applying around the eye area as this finger tends to have the least amount of strength and puts the least amount of pressure and tugs less.

This plant-based serum is a lightweight and fragrance free formula with no parabens, no alcohol, and no animal testing. Made in the USA. It is a watery aloe vera like consistency and is not sticky or greasy. I like how it soaks in almost immediately. I recommend this serum if you are looking for a Vitamin C serum to try. It seems to compare well with other high quality Vitamin C serums I have tried. I have been testing it out for about 2 weeks with no irritation and no breakouts. My skin is soft and not dried out. I have a natural glow to my skin that seems to be from using Vitamin C serum, paired with lots of hydration from drinking plenty of water. If you are interested in learning more about this serum, it is available on Amazon from the company.

Ozeri WeightMaster II: Reviewed

I am happy to report that I am 6 lbs. less than I was pre-pregnancy! I gained about 25-30 lbs. this pregnancy and am now almost a month post partum. I have to admit, I have not tried to lose weight. I have never been much for exercising, but I do try to walk as much as possible. I try to park farther away when possible, and sneak in little ways to add extra mileage to my shoes. My little fella is doing great and after a 2 week period of extreme breastfeeding difficulty and pain, I think we are on our way to being breastfeeding champions. I had a cesarian so have been quite sore and slow in recovery. I had always heard that breastfeeding can boost weigh loss, and so was not too surprised when I saw my number was a lot less. I had breastfed my daughter and had the same quick weight loss. I love knowing that I am nourishing my baby and that he is not getting chemical laden formula. I love the bonding and extra cuddling that breastfeeding gives. As mentioned, I have not been trying to lose weight but it is a happy bonus. I just want to be healthy and keeping excess weight is not something I really want to do. I have been drinking a couple bottles of water each day and try to eat a balanced diet. I do admit that I still drink my one and only soft drink, the Kentucky Ale 8 One a few times a week. It is a ginger soft drink and is my weakness.

I had opportunity to test out another new product from Ozeri. I have tested out their products before and they are always well made, sleek, stylish, durable and very modern. This product I have been testing is the "Ozeri WeightMaster II 440 lbs Digital Bath Scale with BMI and Weight Differential Detection." It is a beautiful example of what body scales should be. This scale is a classy black, light weight, ridged scale with a tempered glass insert which adds to its classy visual appeal. It features Microban antimicrobial protection that prevents the growth of bacteria, while keeping the scale free of germs. The scale has scratch-resistant feet that won't damage the floor. The scale is extremely light weight, but feels well made. It is a digital scale with an easy to read LCD back light. I was happy to see that this scale came with the appropriate battery size included, making it ready to use right out of the box.

Ozeri products are always clever and packed with not only the ability to do what they are supposed to do, but they do it expertly well and always seem to go above and beyond what the competition does. The Ozeri Weightmaster II Automatically calibrates with "StepOn technology" and auto-powers off. This scale displays your BMI ( body mass index), current weight, and your weight change since the last time you weighed yourself. It has a 30 Day Memory, so you can track how your current weight changes and measure your progress over 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, and 30 days. If numbers bother you or you feel that you may be discouraged by focusing on numbers, this scale displays your weight change in color, (cool huh?) with a GREEN illumination for weight loss and RED for weight gain. How exciting it is to see GREEN when weighing? This scale has auto-recognition technology for 8 unique users, which I am guessing this would be great for use in a small office bathroom. I am a stay at home mommy, but I can imagine that many offices and work places have mini biggest loser type weight contests and this feature of up to 8 users would work nicely.

This was another fantastic product from Ozeri. I have been using this for about 2 weeks and I am consistently amazed by this company, they always seem to find a way to make innovative products that work well and look nice to boot! If you are in the market for a new scale and considering this purchase, check out their facebook page for more information.

Belitae Fresh C serum: Reviewed

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I have another lovely product to review for you all today. It is another Vitamin C serum. I drink orange juice frequently and love to eat tangerines/mandarins, but did you know that Vitamin C is 20 times more effective when applied on our skin versus being taken internally? I am quite fond of Vitamin C serums as they are never sticky or oily, yet they hydrate my skin and give a luminosity and healthy glow. They feel refreshing, and are similar in application to pure aloe vera gel, but with so many more added benefits.

I am reviewing the Belitae Fresh C serum. I received it in the mail from the company in exchange for a review. It arrived in nice, neat packaging. I have reviewed many C Serums previously and so far this one is the first to arrive in its own little product box inside of the shipping box and was well padded. Most other Vitamin C serums have arrived just in bubble wrapping. The white packaging is attractive with a brightly lit floral orange graphic, which is nice, since it brings to mind the happy color mood of oranges, which are packed with Vitamin C. The bottle is housed in a dark cobalt blue glass bottle (with a dropper) to prevent oxidation and maintain the integrity of the ingredients.

Upon first look, this is MADE IN THE USA!!! I love finding products made here as it seems more things are increasingly made over seas...even high end purses...sadly. I am an avid purse and cosmetic lover and try to buy things made in the USA when possible.

This serum is a lightweight, clear, fragrance free, formula that restores skin's natural glow and stimulates collagen and elastin, helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I am trying to transition almost completely to all natural products, and am happy that this is 98% natural and made with 72% organic ingredients and absolutely NO added fillers. It is cruelty free, phalate free, paraben free, and gluten free.

I love how it has Hyaluronic Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Jojoba Oil, Witch Hazel, and Organic Aloe Vera as these are ingredients I use daily in my beauty regime. Hyaluronic acid is an excellent moisturizer that restores skins firmness, natural resilience and is beneficial for skin health. Glycerin is a humectant that attracts moisture to our skin. I always add vegetable glycerin to my oils when I do my oil cleansing facials. I use jojoba oil in my facial oil steam cleansing. Jojoba is quickly absorbed without leaving a greasy residue because it is so similar to the natural oils in our skin and hair. I like to use witch hazel as a toner, and it works wonderful for soothing and clearing up blemishes. I am loving my Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel right now, and it is nice that this Vitamin C serum has witch hazel as well. Another ingredient I love that is in this nice serum: Aloe Vera (make sure you get the clear, pure kind without alcohols when you buy it--better yet, try to get an actual aloe plant if possible) is loved for its healing, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and soothing properties. Aloe Vera boosts the production of collagen, which is necessary for anti-aging and restoring elasticity to skin. As we age, our skin gradually loses it tightness and firmness.

Vitamin C Serum helps to fade age spots and discolorations while making our skin feel smooth and soft. This serum is formulated with a super charged form of Vitamin C called "STAY-C 50." This type of Vitamin C soaks into the skin where it is converted to Ascorbic Acid (a type of Vitamin C) by our cells. STAY-C50 is a more stable and bio-available formulation of Vitamin C.

The nice aspect about this serum is that this goes to work immediately when applied. It soaks in so easily and is not sticky or greasy feeling. I like not having to wash my hands immediately after application, as I apply this at my vanity in my bedroom. It would be a hassle for me to have to wash off a sticky residue from my hands before make up application.

Ingredient List
Organic Aloe Vera and Organic Gotu Kola and Organic Horsetail and Organic Geranium and STAY-C 50 (Vitamin C) and MSM and Botanical Hyaluronic Acid and Witch Hazel and Kosher Vegetable Glycerin and L-Arginine and Jojoba Oil and Phenoxyethanol (1%) and Ethylhexyl Glycerin
(1%)

I like this serum and recommend it if you are looking for a Vitamin C serum to try. I have been testing it out for about a month with no irritation and no breakouts. My skin is soft and not dried out. If you are interested in learning more about this serum, it is available on Amazon from the company.

Taut Gold Standard Collagen Infusion Masks Review and Giveaway!

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I have always had dry, flaky, oily acne combination skin, most of my life. Luckily the past year of giving up traditional face washes, soaps, sodium laurel and laureth sulfate skincare and body care, and chemical laden cosmetics, paired with oil cleansing, has restored my skin to the best it has looked in my entire life. I like to oil and steam cleanse my face with a mix of glycerin, jojoba oil, caster oil, grapeseed oil and almond oil about every other day and once a week I like to do a charcoal or dead sea mud mask to draw out dirt, blackheads and all other gunk deposited on my skin. I have always loved face masks, and they are generally in the mud or cream type form. But recently I was sent some Taut Gold Standard Collagen Infusion Masks to review. These are unlike anything I have tried as they are a wet cloth mask intended to provide moisture instead of drawing things out.

I was provided 2 for the purpose of this review. They come in a large white packet containing a white cloth like 9almost like a baby wipe material) mask it is drenched (DRENCHED I tell you) and dripping in collagen enriched liquid, you carefully unfold the sheet mask and then apply it to your face. I put it on and did not tell my husband I was going to review a product, I just walked into the kitchen....cause its funny. He was freaked out to say the least! It really looks like a mexican wrestler mask (Nache Libre?) or a from a Halloween special movie. I immediately felt a cooling sensation, it was wonderful! The mask describes as their "proprietary blend of hydrolyzed collagen, botanical squalene, hyaluronic acid and anti-oxidants penetrates deeply into the skin to tone, hydrate and brighten the complexion in just 15 mins." Hyaluronic acid applied topically to the skin is used for anti-aging and for healing wounds, burns, softening wrinkles, and as a moisturizer. Collagen is important to our skin.

Prevention is key here, it is important to eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and stay away from things that destroy our collagen. Environmental pollutants, genetic makeup, poor nutrition, smoking, unprotected exposure to the sun's harmful rays, and other factors cause a loss of skin elasticity and cause wrinkles and sagging. When we age, the outer part of the skin layer (the epidermis) thins, sags and wrinkles begin to form. Collagen improves skin by providing moisture and fullness. It is important to also get enough Vitamins and minerals in our body. I use a Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid serum each day after cleansing my face. Vitamin C deficiency causes loss of collagen. Supplying extra vitamin C in your diet will enhance collagen and slow the processes of aging.

This mask directs the user to wear for 10-15 minutes. I applied it to my face and instantly felt refreshed. It was a bit awkward putting it on as there were 2 flaps that hung under my eyes. I am guessing those are to put over your eyelids in case you want to take a quick little nap. I tucked these flaps over my cheeks to get them out of the way.

Directions for Use according to the Taut website and manufacturer:

Remove mask from packet, carefully unfold and apply on clean face.
Fit the mask over the eye area then gently stretch it to cover the entire face.
Relax and leave mask on for 10-15 minutes.
Remove mask and gently tap face with fingertips to complete absorption of collagen-enriched essence.
Massage the remaining collagen-enriched essence onto neck and upper chest area.
Feel restored, refreshed and renewed!

FOR BEST RESULTS, WE RECOMMEND USING THE MASK AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES/WEEK. Well looking at the price of these, I would not be able to afford to use these that often. Perhaps when I become rich and famous. Then I will most likely use these 3 times a week or more, as the sensation is quite amazing and lovely.

Box of 5 masks is $50 on the website.

After taking the mask off (10 minutes later is what is suggested, but I loved the cooling and moisturizing feeling, I left this on for 25 minutes) you are directed to rub any left over liquid into your skin. My face was pink in some areas but it was not irritated or burning. My face was still slightly moist, so I took my fingers and did a light massage. My skin felt hydrated and looked glowing, please excuse my very flat and slightly frizzy looking, "before bedtime, skincare routine" hair.

I would recommend these if you are needing to do a deep moisturizing and do not want to load your skin with something too heavy. These are pricey, but I would say if you can afford it or want to indulge, go for it! These would be fun to have you and your girlfriends buy together and have a spa sleepover or Mom's day out. Husbands love them too! (Mine did, after he got over the slightly scary, but funny looking mask.)

North Coast Organics Deodorant: Reviewed

As many of you may know, I have been sulfate free and chemical free for over a year and therefore have adopted a more healthier, crunchier, and natural lifestyle. But I am not a hippie, just a tad crunchy, trying to make better lifestyle choices. :) I wash my face with the oil cleansing method, and do not use anything that has chemicals or sulfates. I read labels before purchasing. I had made the switch to natural deodorant last summer, avoiding anything with aluminum, parabans, and ingredients that were hard to pronounce or spell.

I used to believe that deodorant had to be antiperspirant and would always buy whatever had the most aluminum in it. My tried and true deodorant was Lady Michum with 20% Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly! Try spelling that with your eyes closed. I would get the clear gel in baby powder scent. I used that for years as it seem to be a clinical strength and cheap in cost. I would always shower everyday, but the next day, if I waited a bit longer in the day to shower (such as a lazy sleepy weekend morning) I would not be shower fresh with my day old deodorant sniff test. When choosing my deodorant of choice, I never really would read the ingredients, except to make sure my deodorant had a high percentage of Aluminum, as that seemed to keep me dry and smelling fresh.

What I did not know then was that aluminum has been linked to cancer and Alzheimer's Disease, as well as other health concerns. I decided to try more natural methods of deodorizing. I tried numerous natural deodorants purchased at Whole Foods and other retailers. Tom's of Maine did not do anything for me. I tried Kiss My Face, Herban Cowboy, Salt rock deodorants (have traces of aluminum in them) and various etsy homemade purchases. I even attempted making my own deodorant. Now I want to mention that when you switch from traditional deodorant to a more natural form, it does take a few weeks to get your body and skin adjusted to it. Natural deodorants are not antiperspirants, because your body is supposed to sweat to release toxins. Sweating is your bodies way of regulating its temperature and cooling the body. Sweat is not what stinks, it is the growth of bacteria that causes the stink. The first 2 weeks of my going natural with deodorants, it was the middle of summer, our 90 year old home was without air conditioning, and it was about 95 degrees outside and inside was about 82. It was not a fun time for me. I was sweating. A lot. I was so ready to give up on being a natural, aluminum free, deodorant wearing gal.

I finally tried LaVanilla and although it worked really well for me, it is about 2 1/2 times the price of most deodorants, natural or traditional. So that was not going to be something I could easily keep up with.

I recently had the opportunity to try a natural deodorant from a family based company, North Coast Organics. It was started by Nathan and his lovely mother. They have made a vegan, cruelty free and eco-friendly deodorant that is aluminum free and paraban free. They currently have 3 types: Death By Lavender, Naked, and Revolver.

I was sent the Death by Lavender to review. Here is a list of the very simple, but effective ingredients:

Ingredients: Coconut Oil*, Carnauba Wax*, Cornstarch*, Baking Soda, and Proprietary Blend of Essential Oils.

Now lets compare these to my previous deodorant, Lady Michum:

Active Ingredients: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (20%)

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dipropylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Ethylene Brassylate, PEG 12 Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG/PPG 18/18 Dimethicone, PEG/PPG 19/19 Dimethicone

Yes, I bet you can spell and recite by memory all the ingredients in the Death by Lavender. The Lady Michum ingredients, are a bit more complex and slightly scary I may add.

I tested this deodorant for about 3 weeks and it works well. I do not stink, at all. I do not have wet armpits, and the light scent of the lavender is nice. I did find it can be a bit messy to apply if you dial it too far up and it melts over the sides a bit. I also got in a hurry a few times and forgot to dial it back down after immediate use, causing some to goop up the outside under the cap. I do want to mention that if I used it immediately after shaving or put it on too heavily or aggressively, I did have some irritation. But not everyone will have that problem.

I have always had an irritation to baking soda, (not sure if it is the granules of the baking soda which is slightly abrasive or what) and have needed to decrease the baking soda and increase the arrowroot/cornstarch when I make my own homemade deodorant. I would love if this could be made in the lavender form as well, with a baking soda free version, with added cornstarch and arrowroot powder instead. They do make a Naked, sensitive skin formula, but it is the baking soda that I have irritation with, not the essential oils. So perhaps 2 versions of Lavender deodorant, one with baking soda, and one without baking soda but with added arrowroot and cornstarch, and keep the other ingredients and essential oils.

I like the look of the labels in this deodorant line, they are simple but have a nice modern look. The labels are printed with vegan ink. I also like how the containers are reusable. I have made skin butters in the past with shea and coco butters for dry elbows and heels, and when this container is used up, I can find another use for it. I liked this deodorant and this may be something you like as well. Check out their website for more information.
