Chamberlain's Leather Milk Furniture Treatment No. 5: Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

We had bought a dark brown leather sectional last year and had previously been using store bought leather wipes from Weimans and also Armorall. The Armorall worked decently well and was easy to use and very cost effective, the Weimans wipes were awful. They smells decently nice, however, I began to worry they were making our pebbled couch smooth in some areas after 2 uses. This worried me greatly and so I began looking for alternatives. We had more of the Armorall wipes left so we used those until a better substitute was found. The problem with the Armorall wipes was that they did not smell very natural or safe. I am a big proponant of natural products so was at a loss as to what to use to gently clean and condition our couch. At that time my daughter was 2 and we were constantly needed to clean as she would get fingerprints and other smudges on the couch as the living room is her playroom most of the day.

I had the opportunity to test out a leather cleaner conditioner from a smaller, family oriented company called Chamberlain's Leather Milk. I had not heard of them before, but did a quick search and found that they are quite popular with a high end saddle leather bag company and figured that if a $600+ leather bag could be cleaned safely with this product, that I could trust this on our leather couch.

The company has several types of leather treatments. The furniture treatment (known as No. 5) contains rich, natural emollients and a gentle cleaner designed to clean and condition leather. It is a milky white, water based formula with a sweet cherry almond scent. The company states that this cleaner/conditioner may be used as often as desired to clean and refresh leather furniture items. They warn/suggest against using on suede or extremely soft leather types.

I like that this cleanser conditioner is made in the USA and is made from natural ingredients. I also like that it's environmentally safe and I also like how they have an etsy shop with their product available for sale. Being an etsy artisan myself, it is a pleasant thing to see.

After applying the Leather Milk on our deep brown leather sofa, I saw that the leather was shiny but not oily or sticky, and the leather was luxurious and supple. I applied this a few weeks ago while I was pregnant with our son and was happy that there weren't any unsafe fumes or chemicals that could absorb into my skin or be breathed in. Chamberlain's Leather Milk did a great job and I will definitely continue using this brand for our leather needs.

Included with the cleaner was a small white rounded sponge type applicator (about the size of the palm of my hand or a little larger) to apply the leather milk on before applying to the furniture. This worked pretty well, and I was happy to have this included as I would not have had anything on hand to apply this. This was a nice convenience.

I think the look of the packaging and label is nice and classy. I like how the company has a sense of humor with their warning label. "Do not drink or throw this product into your eyes, nor toss from a moving vehicle." That was something that made me laugh out loud as I was not expecting to read that." They also encourage you to "buy and use more than you need". Well the price of this is about $18 so our family cannot afford to use it to lavishly, but we will make sure to use as much as needed to clean our leather as leather is an investment and has the potential to last many long years if treated well and protected.

I would recommend this product. You can find them on Amazon and Etsy, as well as LeatherMilk.com.

Notice that the product has been applied to the left side of the couch, as seen in the close up picture. The full size picture of the couch is the finished treatment. :) Super supple and soft, it feels as beautiful as it looks.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  2. The leather has been part of the home furniture for centuries. Earlier, the Animal hide is widely used in daily activities. Later on, the technological advancements in the tanning industry unveiled different types of leather like Faux Leather, Bonded Leather, Top-grain Leather, Split Leather, and others.--- to Know more details go to this link www.demirfurniture.com.au/
