Tone moisturizing body wash: Review

I recently had the opportunity to try a new body wash, for free as a BzzAgent in exchange for my honest opinion and a posted review.

I tried the Tone Petal Soft body wash in Pink Peony and Rose oil, and liked the size of the product, the packaging (sleek, comfortable to hold and pretty pink color). I was saddened to see that it, like most commercial body products, contained sulfates and a long list of chemicals, additives, colorants, and alcohols. These are all terrible for your skin and can cause irritation. I have been sulfate free over a year and only use products that are sulfate free.

I tried this body wash one time for sake of the review, however, due to all these unpleasant ingredients, I would not use in the future or purchase on my own. My general rule is that if it contains ingredients that are hard to pronounce, hard to spell correctly from memory, or ingredients that I have no clue what it is, then it probably is not something my skin or body should have. I am not sure why this would need Red 40, Red 33, Yellow 6. I currently use items that I find at Whole Foods (and even then, I check labels before purchasing, as some things from Whole Foods do contain these similar ingredients.)

Here are the listed ingredients found in the Tone wash: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Peg-8, Fragrance, Glycerin, Polyquaternium-7, Peg-7, Glyceryl Cocoate, Peg-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Glycol Distearate, Laureth-4, Pentylene Glycol, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trideceth-9, Nonfat Dry Milk (Sine Adipe Lac), Decylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Cocamide Mea, Tetrasodium Edta, Sodium Benzoate, Dmdm Hydantoin, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Red 40, Red 33, Yellow 6.

The smell was very flowery, which is fine, however, I would have liked a mango or citrus or some fruity scent. I also like vanilla creme, bakery scents, or chocolate scents better. I was happy to try this out, however it is not for me. Perhaps others will like it better.

If you found this review or any of my other reviews interesting or helpful, please rate is as "helpful" and or leave a comment. I enjoy writing reviews and hearing feedback about what I have written as I feel reviews help those interested make an informed decision before purchasing. I also feel that honest and informative reviews improve a product by providing insight to the company. I believe reviews should be honest no matter whether an item was free, at a discount, or purchased. I am not connected to this company or any of the companies of products that I review. I am not paid for my opinions.
