PERFECT BROWS Eyebrows Growth Balm Review
Do you envy those with the dark, thick and sultry eyebrows? I do. I think a nice, well groomed brow really frames the face and can make for a more youthful appearance. I look at my younger self at 13 and wish I never over plucked and gave into the trimmer brow look trend. I had eyes like young Elizabeth Taylor and at that time thought they were unsightly. If Only I knew that in a few years (in my twenties) I would regret my over plucking and try for years to thicken my brows. I rarely pluck or shape my brows now that I am in my early thirties. I have a stray hair maybe once a month, but that is it. I do use oil to cleanse and moisturize my face and brows, and I am sure that may help some. I have been applying brow tints and filling in my brows for the last 2 years. I have never gotten the hang of using shadows or eye pencils and so currently had been using a mascara wand type filler / tint (Lashem). Last month, I had the opportunity to try a tint that is in a jar (in exchange for an honest review). It is not only a tint, but also more importantly, a treatment to help strengthen the hair follicle and nourish growth.
The product is called PERFECT BROWS Eyebrows Growth Balm. This can be used as a spa like mask (like perhaps while at home or sleeping (be careful with getting it on your pillow) or as a tint. I use it as a tint that nourishes, in the hopes that my brows will thicken. It is a medium brown color but seems to lean toward a warm toned brown when I use it. It is not as dark as I hoped.
I use the included brush to apply this balm to my brows, I then darken with my usual tint. I finish with a gentle brush through using a brow and lash comb.
This also is available in a non tinted version. I think this product is wonderful and the Grapefruit & Cocoa fragrance is a supreme delight. It reminds me of a spa treatment. I do find that since my eye brows and hair is darkest brown, almost an off black in some lighting, that this is definitely just a light tint. I would prefer the company to have a third version available for brows that are very dark. I like a thicker and darker brow. I do find that I need to pair this with my usual eyebrow tint (Lashem Color Strokes Brow Tint and Lift in Raven color).
The ingredients are Steller and I can believe that after an extended few months of use, this could potentially get me much closer to the eyebrows I want.
Ingredients: Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Mango Butter, Saw Palmetto Oil, Beeswax, Watermelon Seed Oil, Cucumber Seed Oil, Rose Hip Oil, Grapefruit Essential Oil, Armoise Essential Oil, Provitamin B5 (d-panthenol), Rose Geranium Essential Oil, Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol), Cypress Essential Oil, Turmeric Essential Oil, Allantoin, Clove Bud Essential Oil, Nutmeg Essential Oil, Black Pepper Essential Oil, Colloidal Oatmeal, Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil, Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate)
Size:One 0.6 oz/18ml jar of treatment should last for about 12-18 months. The price is reasonable for the amount of product (I do not need much at a time.) I do feel the color is a problem for me. If I could have this in an expresso brown black, then it would be replacing my Lashem. (It would be nice to use ONE product, instead of pairing the two.
You can find this multipurpose healing ointment on Amazon.
As mentioned, I received this complimentary to try. No other compensation was provided and I did not promise a positive review.

Comfrey Plus Pain Relief Ointment Review
I was recently sent a product to try complimentary (for my honest evaluation and review) that is intended for muscle aches and pains, as well as various skin ailments. Comfrey Plus by Remedinature comes in a small (2 oz) amber jar. It has a medicinal, yet pleasant fragrance, not overpowering, but soothing and healing. In fact, I have used it as a healthier, more natural option for opening nasal passages and making breathing easier during a cold. My family has all been suffering from a bad cold over the last 2 1/2 weeks. One person would get sick (my husband), then both small children got sick (at the same time) and then lastly mommy got sick. My husband can take over the counter medicines and we have a variety of those we keep on hand for him to use. I myself like using more natural, homeopathic cold remedies when possible and so have been toughing it out with lots of hot teas, water, soups, vitamin supplements and rest when I can (not easy with a busy 4 1/2 year old who is not yet in school, a 19 month old, and a little one growing in my tummy). My 4 1/2 year old went through an entire box of tissues in about 2-3 days and since she is just now starting to learn to actually blow her nose, she is still in the wiping stage and often forgets to actually blow. Needless to say, she rubbed her nose and upper lip area raw in a short amount of time. I should have taken a picture of it at its worst and reddest, but the picture below gives some idea of how she looked (the sleeping picture is about 3 days into the treatment, it was much worse before using the ointment).
I applied this ointment once at night for about a week, it helped her breathe a little easier and it healed the skin. This ointment was also wonderful for me as well. I did not take a picture, but as I am entering my second trimester, I have had 2 cystic acne bumps in the last 3 weeks. I have clear skin for the most part, but every so often get a hard, painful bump that takes nearly a month to go way. I put this ointment on it twice a day and in 3 days, the bumps were gone. I was shocked.
While I do not claim this to be a magic ointment, I do know the ingredients are good. It is intended for arthritic or muscle pain, but it works much better in our family as a healing salve. My husband frequently has painful shoulder discomfort and leg cramps, but this did not assist with his pain. It may work so others. For us, we will use this as a natural Neosporin type medication, and natural Vapor Rub.
I like how this has no artifical colors, paragons, or chemical additives. It is gentle and soothes on contact. It did not irritate or burn my daughter's raw, chapped, skin. As a muscle rub, it is said to improve flexibility & mobility, however, as I mentioned, it works best for us in other ways.
Ingredients:
Comfrey Oil, Arnica Oil, Sweet Almond, St. Johns Wort Oil and essential oils.
You can find this multipurpose healing ointment on Amazon. As mentioned, I received this complimentary to try. No other compensation was provided and I did not promise a positive review. I liked this product and found it to heal my own skin and my daughters skin quickly. I recommend it for a variety of ailments.
Unfortunately I neglected to get a better picture of her red skin, this was after a few days into the treatment. After a week of using the ointment, her skin was clear and happy. |

Lil Leona Baby Shampoo and Body Wash Review
This shampoo does not weigh down my hair or make it appear dull and sticky. When I did use sulfates (about 3+ years ago, I had thought that the Baby Magic, and Johnson's Baby shampoos were gentle and would be wonderful for me and baby. My daughter's hair was fine and thin at the time of using these washes, and so I did not know they were not helping her hair. I did know that when I used them, my hair was limp, dry, and sticky in appearance. Reading labels puzzled me as to why so many chemicals were used in a wash intended for the most delicate skin. It was then that I decided to become sulfate free and lessen the chemicals in my family and home.
I have been using this shampoo by Lil Leona for almost a month and still have plenty of the 16 oz bottle remaining. Please note that I only shampoo my hair twice per week (since giving up chemicals and sulfates, my hair is fuller, softer, healthier, and CLEANER.) I wash less and yet my hair is fresh and clean. I have been also using this wash on my 18 month old and 4 1/2 year old. It is a lovely wash and the ingredients are fantastic. I also love the vintage inspired labeling.
As mentioned, I was sent this for review (complimentary) in exchange for my honest opinion. If you know my blog, you know that I love natural, sulfate free, and well made products. I have reviewed products in the past that do not follow my sulfate free lifestyle and unfortunately the product has received lower marks from me. I will always tell you my honest experience and feelings about a product.
This wash makes the cut and is actually on my list of items I will actually consider purchasing myself in the future when I am out. I like how it is cleaning my hair without striping it or adding buildup. I have not experienced any dryness or itchy scalp. 5 stars!
You can find this on Amazon.

Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Gel Facial Cleanser Review
I love trying new (natural) beauty products. I have been washing my face with a charcoal or coconut soap once per day and doing the oil cleansing method about 3 times a week. I do not use traditional, sulfate or chemical based face soaps or washes. Anytime I can find a gentle, yet effective, nourishing facial care product, I am excited to put it to the test. I am a frequent wearer of waterproof, felt tip liquid eyeliner and always wear the blackest mascara I can get my hands on. So naturally I need something potent, yet pampering to my delicate eye area and face.
I recently was sent a product from Michael Todd (I have reviewed them in the past and they have consistently great products). The product is their Charcoal Detox gel facial cleanser.
This cleanser comes in a classy plum purple pump container and has 6.7 fl oz. It is a pore fighter if I ever met one. I have deep, blackheads in large pores mainly on my nose, but also on my cheeks and chin. My face is naturally oily. My skin is fairly clear of acne, but I seem to have on going blackheads no matter what I try. I do find that Konjac sponges, sonic brushing, and oil cleaning does help control my pores, but I still beed help.
I love using Activated Charcoal and try to use it whenever I can. My konjac sponge has it and I use it in my natural soaps. I even brush my teeth with activated charcoal tablets a few times a week to detox my mouth and whiten my teeth. Charcoal is absorbent and draws out the dirt and unclogs pores. It also helps mattify my skin. This cleanser has Sugar Cane, Maple and Bilberry Extract which I have learned help nourish skin and stimulate cellular turnover to heal problem areas. I frequently use Tea Tree oil in my skincare (clears up skin rashes and infections) and various daily household cleaning (it makes an excellent disinfectant for surfaces when mixed with water, and I add it to my baby's homemade wipes solution--as we use cloth wipes). Tea Tree Oil is antibacterial & anti-inflammatory. I love how this cleanser has aloe in it. I can definitely notice the soothing and cooling properties in this cleanser. The consistency is gel like which seems to come from the aloe ingredient. I find that a little goes a very long way and the product foams well for a natural and sulfate free product. I have no problems with removing my Stila Stay All Day eyeliner pen from my eyes and my eyeshadow that has primer underneath. I really am impressed with this cleanser. I also love the pump and find it easily dispenses the product.
I was sent this to try and have been using it a few times per week for a month. I recommend it as well as other Michael Todd products. Check out this cleanser on their website for more information. They have a really nice website that actually has an extensive gallery of real users of their products. You can see customers with facial masks and before and afters of skincare products in use. You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.

Pink Pumpkin (Vanilla Pumpkin flavor) K-cup Coffee Review and Giveaway (Brooklyn Bean Roastery)
I was given the opportunity to try another fantastic coffee roast from one of our favorite coffee companies, Brooklyn Bean Roastery. With the arrival of Fall, it is all about the crunchy sound of brightly colored leaves, your favorite cable knit sweater, a nice pair of leather boots and a warm drink of something delicious. Today I am reviewing the flavor, Pink Pumpkin which is from the Fall Limited Edition Collection. It is not truly pink, but gets its name from honoring October's breast cancer awareness month, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of Pink Pumpkin brew will go towards this cause. It is a cause I am passionate about and I am thrilled to share in the awareness, and so happy that this company holds this cause dear to their hearts as well.
Imagine a hot from the oven, slice of pumpkin pie. The aroma, the sweet and spicy notes, paired with sweet vanilla cream envelops your senses and delights your tongue. All these flavors are now readily available to you in a hot mug of pumpkin flavored coffee. To baking required. Brooklyn Beans have a 40 ct. box of this deliciousness in cup form. You can have one every day of the month if you like, with a few left over for a second brewed cup. :)
My husband is the big coffee drinker in our home. I like coffee, but he REALLY loves it. He will drink it on a hot summer day in 90+ degree weather (piping hot, and not usually iced). It helps keep him alert in the mornings, or when driving long distances in the evenings, as well as acts as the perfect ending to a big meal. He enjoys this vanilla pumpkin flavor, however says it is not one he would want all the time (due to the spicy uniqueness of it), but he likes having it as a seasonal flavor. He drinks 1-2 of these cups per day with some real whipped cream and a touch of sugar. It really smells fantastic and makes our kitchen so cozy. He likes to drink other flavors as well throughout the week so he does not quickly tire of it. His favorite brews of coffee are mainly breakfast blends or medium roasts with some cream and light on the sugar. He also likes a plain vanilla, hazelnut or mocha.
I was sent this Pumpkin Vanilla coffee k-cup box for review and my husband finds it quite enjoyable. I like the packaging of the box and the ease of storage. How do you like your coffee? What is your flavor?
The kind folks at Brooklyn Bean Roastery have offered one lucky reader a box of 40 cups of Pink Pumpkin.
Find Brooklyn Beans Roastery on Facebook for fun updates and new flavors!
