Yellow Beaks Bird Feeder: Reviewed

I love watching birds. We live out in rural horse country, in Kentucky. Yes I have all my teeth, they are straight, and I do not wear jean overalls. Ok, well I did when I was pregnant with both my little ones, but that was because few things fit or were comfortable to me in my third trimester. Let me tell you I rocked them, ok well maybe not. :) Anyway, I do love birds and it is very relaxing to hear the pretty chirp of birds when waking up in the early morning. No, I am not a morning personal at all, but having small children, you have to be--or at least pretend you are. Birds and their happy whistles help, and a nice tall glass of Green Matcha Tea blended with frozen banana and Cacao Powder Protein shake for energy. :)

I had the opportunity to review a clear view suction window bird feeder from the Yellow Beaks Bird Feeder company. It is a cute and sturdy all clear bird feeder that attaches to a window for viewing at all angles. I was so excited to put this up on our double window in the kitchen. It has a nice perch rest for birds to take a little rest while they taste the delicious feed I have set out for them.

The feeder did not really have much set up. I noticed that the 3 suction cups on my feeder were too close together for quick attachment to the window. My husband had to fit them just right to get them to stay flat, but eventually they fit together. We have had a few heavy rains and storms this month and this house has stayed on the window.

I sadly have not had one single bird visit this home. Perhaps I need to set up an open house and give out free poppy seed muffins. Perhaps they would stop by and sing for me. I did contact the company, and YellowBeaks company was quick to respond (the same day) and offered some detailed suggestions / tips on how to get the birds to feed at my feeder. They suggested I put some birdseed sprinkled nearby around the feeder on the ground area so they can be drawn to the feeder. I have never had a problem with birds cming to my wooden feeder that was on a shepherds hook staff on my back porch, however we had to take that down as several times a day a greedy squirrel thief would move in a stay all day until almost all the feed was gone. I did see a video recently of someone putting petroleum jelly on the post and watched as the squirrel tried with at its might to climb up the pole, only to keep sliding down. It is pretty funny actually. I do not hate squirrels, they just need to stop eating my bird seed. They can have the acorns or black walnuts in our yard.

One thing about the YellowBeaks feeder is that is is intended to keep squirrels away as the roof is a bit slanted and slippery. Just be sure to attach the bird feeder higher off the ground, away from tree branches, posts, and fences. I hope that soon some birds will stop on by and allow my 3 1/2 year old and I to watch them. I will try putting some bread crumbs out, perhaps they will come for a visit. I might have a bit more luck in the winter time, when snow is on the ground and other food sources are more scarce.

I want to note that my feeder had suction cups that were extremely close to each other. The stock photo shows suction cups that look widely spaced and much different than mine.

Japanese Konjac Sponge: Green Tea: Reviewed

I like to exfoliate my face. I have always preferred natural methods and I sometimes use honey and sugar for a gentle, sweetly fragrant, yet affordable scrub. I recently was introduced to Konjac sponges. Konjac is a plant that has been used for skincare in Japan. The natural plant fiber holds water extremely well. This type of sponge is extremely gentle, yet an excellent natural skin cleaner and exfoliate.

Konjac can cleanses skin pores, removing blackheads, dirt & excess oil. Since it holds water, it hydrates the skin & balances my skin's pH. I like using natural methods and you cannot get much more natural than cleaning your skin with a plant. It 100% natural, sustainable & bio-degradable. This particular brand is the second Konjac I have tried and is in my opinion, by far the best of the 2 I have tried.

The first aspect about this sponge is added green tea which is calming to skin and help with reducing inflammation from acne and irritation due to the cooling and soothing properties of tea. The send noticeable aspect is the white string that is attached to the sponge which is used to provide a sense of security when holding the sponge. It also allows the sponge to be hung from a hook. My other Konjac has a string as well, however, looking at both strings, this brand has a thicker, sturdier string. My previous sponge string is almost like a thick sewing thread. This brand is an actual thick string and is durable.

This company makes several types of Konjac sponges. Each is infused with either a charcoal or clay or tea that helps with soothing and healing different skin types. They contains minerals and antioxidant ingredients that help nourish, heal, soothe and smooth skin naturally. The sponge can be used with or without cleanser. I do not usually use cleanser with mine. I wash my face first and then use this afterwards. It is dry and somewhat hard at first. It only takes about 20-30 seconds under warm water to soften this sponge. I gently massage this into my wet skin in a circular motion. This does not cause me to be irritated or break out. My face is sometimes a rosy pink after using this, but that is often due to the circulation this provides.

The brand is called Japanese Konjac Sponge and their products are 100% natural, vegan, and eco-friendly. They can be used on the face and on the body. I only use mine on my face. The third aspect about this sponge that I like better than my previous brand is that this one is a more scrubbier texture. Mine has a criss-cross like sliced texture in the way it was cut. Some people may find it rougher than they prefer, but I like a good scrubby sponge. It is not harsh at all on my face. It makes my skin smooth, and after my shower my face is a smooth canvas for my creams and makeup foundation. I recommend this sponge.

Vitamin D3 5000 IU by Vita Optimum: Review and Giveaway!

I have been trying a Vitamin D3 softgel by the Vita Optimum company. I have also been taking their Omega 3 Fish Oil (Review Here). I have been testing them both for about 3 weeks and I am liking them a lot.

Vitamin D is important. It helps the body absorb the proper amount of Calcium which builds strong bones. I try to get my daily allowance of vitamin D naturally from the sunshine, but do not get outside as much as I would like.

These softgels are easy to swallow, and have no aftertaste or unpleasant fragrance. I trust this brand and this supplement, as the company seems to be very proficient in their knowledge of nutrition. This supplement is made in the USA in a FDA registered facility with strict certification and testing. This contains pharmaceutical grade Vitamin D3 with no artificial additives and no fillers. It contains Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

This does NOT contain any:
artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, sweeteners, starch, soy, yeast, peanuts, milk, lactose, egg, wheat, gluten, fish, shellfish, and tree nuts.

Ingredients:

Vitamin D3 5000 IU per softgel. Organic GMO-free Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Bovine Gelatin, (Kosher/Halal), Vegetable Glycerin, Purified Water, GMO-free MCT Oil (from Coconut).

Directions:

As a dietary supplement, take 1 softgel daily (contains 5000 IU as cholecalciferol), or as directed by your healthcare professional. For best absorption take it with meals. I take mine in the evening before bed as that is the time I take all my other supplements and vitamins. I make sure to take this with food as it suggests.

How many pills are in the bottle? Each bottle contains 360 softgels, a 1 year supply for 1 person. I think that seems to be reasonable for such a high quality supplement.

Vita Optimum, their level of Service to customers and their Creed:

According to their website, their philosophy is simple: PURE, NATURAL, and VERIFIED. They realize that they are not the cheapest in cost, however, they strive to provide the best product possible. I agree that a top quality product far succeeds in importance than just being cost conscious with a low quality product. I myself rather pay a little more and get better service, and a product I can trust.

The company was quick to respond to my emailed questions that I had. They are kind and knowledgeable in all messages, sincere and offer a money back, "Unconditional Guarantee" if ever there was a problem. They guarantee 100% Satisfaction with their product. If for any reason you are not satisfied, you can ask for a full refund at any time. That is very reassuring to me.

My first bottle of D3 had the softgels stuck together in one hard clump, due to slight damage to the product from shipping in transit from the extreme heat. It was not the company's error or fault at all. It did not worry me too much, however, the customer service representative immediately sent a replacement to me. She followed up with me and it was so nice to feel that I was an important customer. My needs were met.

I recommend this product and have tried 2 of their products so far. Both seem favorable. For more information on this D3 supplement, you can purchase on Amazon: Vitamin D (D3) Pills 5000 IU

In the last picture that has 2 different D3 softgels, the Vita Optimum is on the left. It is only slightly larger than my other brand of D3 that I had been taking. Both are equally easy to take, neither have given me any side effects. I do feel that taking a D3 supplement makes me have a bit of a boost in my mood and I like how it is said to help with bone, breast and heart health.

BakeitFun Baking Mat: Reviewed

We like to make homemade biscuits. We made some a few days ago and used a non-stick silicone baking mat. The brand we used was from the company, "BakeitFun." Clever little name huh? This is a 16-1/2" x 11" rubbery texture blue mat with pre-spaced circles for cookies, macaroons or biscuits.

It is made of fiberglass woven like mesh and food grade silicone. The fiber mesh works with the silicone to provide excellent heat distribution, which promotes even baking. The woven aspect of it gives a retro 60's kitchen look in my opinion. I have seen these in other brands in a brownish gold color which really adds to the retro look. This particular mat does not slip or bunch up like other silicone mats I have tried. We have only tried the non woven silicone mats previously. I like that this one stays put. It can be put in a pan according to the manufacturer, which makes it a substitute for wax paper, however we did not test that aspect.

It feels rubbery and almost sticky. I must admit the fiberglass part of it was a new aspect for me. I had always heard of fiberglass insulation for homes, (the itchy pink fluffy fiber with glass particles). I had seen these woven looking mats (silpat) but never new about it being a reinforced glass weave. This special texture provides even heat transfer and assists with releasing foods easily from the baking sheet. When we used this mat for biscuits, I found this to be true, they were simple to remove. Our biscuits were a nice golden tan color when they were finished.

This mat works well in the oven, microwave or freezer, and can be used in temperatures ranging -40F (-40 C) degrees to 450F (230 C) degrees. Flavors or odors will not penetrate the baking mat which is great in case you want to cook fish or french fries on this in the oven. The thought to put this in the microwave does sound a bit odd to me but I am sure it is helpful for some occasions. I want to note, that when I immediately looked over the mat upon its arrival, I noticed a major spelling error on the box. Apparently this mat is also "Frezzer Safe."

The BakeitFun Baking Mat does not need any cooking sprays, which makes fattening things such as biscuits just a little kinder to your waistline (but not by much! I do love a nice fluffy golden biscuit with some homemade sausage gravy...). We had no problem with cleaning this mat when we were finished, and there was no scorching or staining. We only needed to rinse with warm water, wipe with a disinfectant wipe and air dry. You can put these in the dishwasher, but I have not tried doing that yet. I would only suggest that if the mat got really messy.

Final Thoughts and Improvements that need to be made:

I do want to note, that I am not sure where this is made. I am thinking it is not a USA made product, since it does not proudly have the "Made is USA" markings. I also was VERY surprised that this had a spelling error on the box. I would like this to be USA made. I also would have liked a better box for storing this mat. I am not sure how to store it other than rolling up and putting back in the box. The box will not last very long as it is a bit flimsy. The overall appearance is nice, the mat works as advertised, and the ruler like measurements are nice on the edges.

Bonapiel Vitamin C Serum for Eyes Product Review

Bonapiel Vitamin C Eye Gel: Reviewed

I have some fine lines around my eyes and dark circles. My skin is fair to light ivory with cool undertones and so my circles are very pronounced. I have had under eye circles for years due to poor sleeping habits, insomnia, and heredity. I do try to cover them up with concealer, but often have difficulty. I am trying to correct them with proper hydration, Vitamin C applied topically, improved sleep and vitamins.

I had the opportunity to try out a Vitamin C Eye Serum from Bonapiel. Bonapiel Eye Serum is specially formulated to help hydrate, pamper, heal and soothe delicate skin around the eyes. Daily application over an extended amount of time can potentially promote a younger appearance, by softening the fine lines and brightening dull and dark areas around the eyes.

Bonapiel is a lightweight, non-greasy, Vitamin C gel that aids cellular reconstruction and renewal. It contains some natural ingredients that assist with repairing damaged and stressed skin. It can assist with ridding puffiness and brightening dark areas. I am optimistic that this will help me over time. As with any beauty product or weight loss product, it is important to be consistent in application and realize that results do not happen over the course of a few days or weeks. It often takes months of dedication in application and positive lifestyle change.

This formula blends these natural ingredients:

- Vitamin C: Reduces the appearance of crow's feet and lift the look of eyes
- Cucumber: Provides unparalleled anti-inflammatory effect that helps reduce puffiness.
- Aloe Vera: Improves the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.
- Green Tea: Provides complementary skin-beautifying effects by protecting against damage from UV light and free radicals.

Ingredients:

Deionized Water, Butylene Glycol, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycerin, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Ethoxydiglycol, Hesperidin Methylchalcone, Steareth-20-Dipeptide-2, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Carbomer, Camelia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Sodium PCA, Triethanolamine, Glycosaminoglycans, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Allantoin

My Personal Application and Directions:

1.) I Oil Cleanse my Face with a blend of Argan Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Castor Oil, Calendula Oil, Jojoba Oil and Rose Hip Oil. Follow my Oil Cleansing routine, steam cleanse, rinse with cold water to close pores and pat dry.

2.) I Tone my skin with Thayers Witch Hazel in Lemon.

3.) I Pump the bottle twice on my ring finger as it is the lightest weight pressure, least-used finger. I apply with a light tapping on my eyelids and under the eyes to fight and prevent the dark circles, crows feet and bags. Working my way from the inside bottom lid to the outside bottom corner. Continue with a dotting motion, and apply the eye gel along the length of the top eyelid.

4.) I also apply to my forehead and in between my eyebrows.

My Thoughts:

I like this product and it is soothing on my skin. I have used it for only 3 weeks so it is too early to notice any dramatic results. I still have under eye circles, but that is part hereditary and part poor sleep habits. I also have very pale skin so that makes my dark areas more noticeable. This serum feels lightweight and is not sticky or greasy. It does have some nice ingredients, however some of the ingredients listed have chemical sounding names that I am unsure about. This does not cause any irritation to my skin and the fragrance is very faint.

Little Cosmetics Pretend Makeup set: Reviewed and GIVEAWAY

I have always been a lover of makeup. Even at around the age of 4 or 5 I was curious about it. My mom did not wear much makeup when I was little (only occasional mascara and a lipstick) and she wears zero makeup today. I am not sure where my fondness came from as I did not have older sisters or relatives who wore it. But I was drawn to it and wanted to wear it. Around age five I would secretly play with makeup at my neighbor friend's house. We would wash it off before I went back home. O how I would have loved a toy set that I could put in my purse.

My daughter is 3 1/3 and from the age of 2 she carried around a pink sponge curler or 2 as a lovey. She did not know what they were called but she loved the pink squishy things. Hers did not have the plastic clip part, only the pink foam. She has watch me on occasion apply my makeup and has always loved makeup brushes. I usually give her the small freebie brushes that come with my blushes and makeup sets as I always use full size brushes. The small ones are never the quality I like and the brush heads are too small for my liking. She has close to 8 or more of the tiny blusher brushes.

When I had the opportunity to review and test a toy makeup set from Little Cosmetics, I was so happy. I knew my daughter would love this! I was right, she does. It is in her red clutch purse and she plays with it often.

I took a video of her first opening the set. She thinks it is "so cute." She made me smile as I watched her. She had green grass stains on her jeans in the video. :) Her favorite pieces are the glitter pot shadow and the hot pink lip gloss. The gloss has a roller ball that makes it look and feel real when she applies it. She always wants to show us her makeup after she does it.

DESCRIPTION:

The perfect pretend makeup set - with all of the essentials! This realistic looking makeup is completely safe for your little beauticians. It has vibrant shades of pinks and purples and with a realistic texture. I would describe the texture as a soft foamy rubber sort of like from a soft flip flop shoe. The makeup is completely fake and absolutely mess free! Little Cosmetics is quality pretend makeup that looks and feels realistic. The play makeup does not show up on skin and does not stain. Little Cosmetics is fake pretend makeup intended for creative play. The Essential Set includes:

- One Pressed Powder Compact
- One Lip Gloss (my daughter loves this)
- One Pink Blush Compact
- One Glitter Pot (my daughter love this)
- One Eye Shadow Palette
- Hot pink/hot orange Makeup Brush Set

Item comes packaged in a hot pink organza draw string bag. Choking hazard: for ages 3 and up.

My Thoughts:

My husband and I think this is cute. We were concerned at first that she would not be able to open the compacts, however she seems to have very little difficulty. We do notice that the brushes shed a bit and may not last long. The eye shadow palette did get a dent (about a thumb nail size) in it the first use, but it seems to smooth out a bit so is not too much of a problem. There are no fragrances and the glitter did not seem to get sparkles on anything. She does not put things in her mouth, so we feel this is safe. I love the colors in the set, they are colors that I wear, so she can be like mommy.
