We have a small country home that is almost 100 years old. It does not have a lot of space, and whoever remodeled it years ago before we purchaqsed it (it was what we could afford at the time and we were first time home buyers) did so very cheaply. The towel bars our bathroom used to have had long since fell down and we never got around to purchasing a nice bar to replace. For about a year we have put a hand towel on the sink for drying our hands. most bathrooms would be okay to do this as they have normal couters surrounding their sink. Our sink is one of those simple cheaply made cabinet sinks that is just a sink with a small cabinet underneath. There is only room for a small pump bottle of soap and that is it. Putting a folded hand towel on the sink looks sloppy in our bathroom and the towel rarely stays dry as the sink easily splashes on it. We have endured the semi-moist towel but were growing frustrated with not having a neater place to put it when guests visit.
I had the opportunity to review a towel ring from the Hotelspa company. It requires no tools and is almost instant to put up. It can be installed instantly on all smooth or textured surfaces without tools, drilling and surface damage. We decided to put it on our painted bathroom wall next to the sink ad mirror. it includes 2 options, a "power-suction" cup for smooth surfaces and siicone adhesive bracke for textures surfaces. The suction idea sounds great for those who take bubble baths and need a towel handy on the tub wall, or for those with kids who need a towel close to the shower to minimize slips and falls trying to get a towel to dry off. If we had not been in need of a hand towel holder, it would have been nice to try it near the tub since our almost 4 year old likes taking showers (mommy assists and is in the bathroom close by).
The suction clamp has a 90-degree push-lock design and is portable and able to be repositioned. The adhesive backing is designed for textured surfaces and is a more permanent option. I am not sure what would need to be done if the ring needed to be moved after positioning. I am guessing we will not be reinstalling it as it does not come with any extra adhesive. I might suggest the company put 2 adhesive backings in the packaging for instances where error was made (by the customer) in positioning or for when the towel bar needs to be removed (for instance if you live in a rental home or apartment and need to remove this later, and want to reuse the towel ring in your next home.)
For being such a simple solution for towel hanging, and with almost instant results, it is a nice looking little holder. The towel bar and ring is made of stainless steel in a high-polish chrome finish to suit most modern decor. This is a great space saving unit, which works well for us since neither of our 2 bathrooms are normal size. After attaching the adhesive backing to the wall, please remember to wait at least 12 hours before putting anythingon the ring and please note that the maximum weight capacity for each towel ring is 10lb.
We are pleased with the towel holder and are happy that we no longer have a moist hand towel on the sink. It makes the bathroom look neater and is quite conveinient in our little space. We are considering getting another one to hold our bath towels on. I think a set of 2 towel rings in a side by side pair would do well for his and her towels.
