Forskolin: from Natural Lane: Review

My husband has been trying a natural supplement called Forskolin. We had never heard of it before, but were offered to try it. He has been wanting to get his weight to a specific number and also he has hoped for an increase in energy. Since I am feeding our infant naturally, I have been cautious about trying additional supplements, and so I offered this to him. Forskolin is an extract from the plant called "Coleus Forskohli."

It is among one of the many natural supplements made popular by Dr. Oz. I have watched his programs on tv as few times and he does seem to have some valid points when talking about a particular supplement. My husband decided to try Forskolin, along with taking his current vitamins, keeping \his same high energy activity level, and the same regular eating habits. Forskolin has been used to treat a variety of health conditions including insomnia, painful menstruation, urinary tract infections, skin conditions, inflammation, and more. It has gained a lot of use from those looking to lose excess weight by preventing overeating and providing more energy, promoting more calories and fat to be burned off. If I was not nursing our little one, I would love to try this as I have urinary tract infections about twice a year, and daily insomnia. I might look into trying this when we are done nursing.

The bottle directs the user to take up to 2 caps per day and there are 60 capsules in a bottle. My husband wanted to start out slow, so he had been taking one per day for the first 2 weeks and then increased to 2 capsules a day. Most supplements like this recommend taking in divided doses, such as 1 in the morning, and 1 in the afternoon or evening, however, he takes all his vitamins at the same time of day, which is around dinner time. This is the most convenient time for him.

He has noticed a decrease in how much he eats, and he does get fuller with lesser portions. It has not been long enough to know for sure if this product is causing weight loss or if it is his lack of calorie intake while he is at work. Lately, he has been increasingly busy at work and so he has been neglecting to take his lunch break. He works from 6 am until almost 6 pm in the evening and takes a break only 1-3 times a week. The rest of the time, he is working non stop from 6-4 or 6 with no sitting or eating. I try to relay to him how unhealthy it is to skip meals and not take any breaks, but he says the hotel restaurant is short staffed (he is a manager, but does it all--acts as a waiter, host, bus boy, room service attendant, etc.). He has lost 30 lbs. in the last 6 months, due to the fast paced work, and not eating much. We mainly were hoping he would have more energy for when he is home with the family, since he is always worn out. But sadly he is always overly exhausted and falls asleep around 8 pm at night. This did not increase his energy or make him more alert. I do think it helps with making him select smaller food portions and eat less. I do not think her needs to lose more weight, but he has a goal of an additional 10 lbs.

He will continue through this bottle for now. He has not had any negative effects from taking this product.
