Skintimate Mandarin Burst Shaving Gel: (Crowdtap) Review
I recently was able to try Skintimate Mandarin Burst Shaving Gel through Crowdtap. I normally use homemade shaving creams or hard shaving soap pucks, but wanted to try this cream as I used to use this brand a few years ago before starting wet shaving / double edge safety razor shaving.
The shaving cream is generously sized, at 8.4 oz. The can is a pretty sunny orange color, easy to dispense, and comfortable to hold. Since I use a shaving brush and safety razor, I dispensed a few pumps into a lathering mug and whipped up a nice little lather. This is a pink gel that turns into a creamy foam. The cream applied smoothly and my razor was able to glide along without any problems.
This is a nice shaving cream, however the reason I no longer use items such as this is due to the chemicals it has. I generally like using glycerin and oil based shaving soap bars or essential oil / cocobutter / shea butter based creams. I do like the fact that this has olive oil butter and Vitamin E. Sadly it has a mix of other chemical ingredients.
I does work well, has a nice citrus mandarin fragrance (sadly it is a synthetic based fragrance and not natural from essential orange or mandarin oils), lathers well and provides a nice smooth shave. I used to use this brand all the time. I would love for the Skintimate company to come out with a natural essential oil based version, perhaps with shea and coco butter, argan oil and jojoba oil.
