Buttons Cloth Diapers One Size: Review and Giveaway!

We have cloth diapered for several years now.  Out daughter who is 3 1/2 wore cloth diapers from the age of 3 months until almost age 3.  We used Bum Genius 4.0 one size pockets with microfiber inserts.  With our son, who is 7 months now, we have explored more options.  We use Bum Genius with him, but have also used Thirsties covers with hemp cotton prefolds.  Both cloth methods work well for us but what I do not like about BG is that the legs do not have gussets.  They do not leak often, but when they do, they can be a mess (especially in the beginning months before solid food if you are breastfeeding) .  I like Thirsties as they do have gussets, but the gussets are not as gathered on the top most gusset.

I was selected to review a diaper from Buttons Diapers.  They are a one-size-fits-all diaper with snaps and the inset lays flat inside the diaper.  They have a  double-gusset feature around the legs to keeps the mess in, and the gussets are gathered fully and securely without squeezing or pinching little legs. The durable snaps allow the covers to adjust to fit babies approximately 9-35 lbs. They are easy to adjust, and work similar to my other snap diapers.  To get a proper fit, adjust the height snaps, snap in a Buttons diaper insert, and put the diaper on your baby.  I really like how these seem to fit more snug than my other diapers.  I also liek that there is a snap at the waist that crosses over.  The system is easy to use, when its time for a diaper change, take out the wet/soiled insert, and put it in your diaper pail.  If the "cover" is only a little wet on the inside, then you can reuse it by wiping it down and replacing with a dry insert.

The company has a variety of inserts:

Daytime diaper inserts are made of 4 layers of microfiber, with a soft layer of fleece on top.

Nighttime inserts have 6 layers of microfiber. Buttons cloth inserts snap on top of one-size diapers covers. There are 2 sizes available (small fits babies 9-20 lbs., large fits babies 20-35 lbs.) I have used microfiber for years with our pocket diapers, but have not been in love with the way it feels on my skin, so I personally got excited about the option for hemp.

Hemp/Cotton Nighttime Doublers have 5 layers made up of 55% hemp and 45% cotton, for maximum absorbancy, and work as a doubler with Buttons daytime insert snapped on top.

They also have Hemp/Cotton regular/daytime inserts, which is what I tried.  These inserts have 4 layers made up of 55% hemp and 45% cotton, and 1 layer of soft fleece on top to wick away moisture and keep baby's skin dry.  I am quite amazed at these, they are nearly dry to the touch, when removed from baby.  These also have 2 sizes available (small fits babies 9-20 lbs., large fits babies 20-35 lbs.)

These diapers are very soft both on the cover (diaper part) and the insert.  I think these are made really well and the seams and edges are neatly done.  The snaps seem to be sturdy and secure.  The selection of colors and patterns are nice.  I am very happy with the pattern we have, which is a teal green and yellowy orange chevron pattern called "Charming."

Here is a video I made of the diaper after it has been washed several times over, loved and used.  I think it still looks great after heavy use (the inserts are pilly but they are been washed a lot).  I would wash this diaper and have him use it, then hurry to wash it again so he could use it the next day.  I like it a lot.

The  company is offering one of my readers 1 diaper with a cotton / hemp insert.  Please tell me what color you would like and the size insert you need (small or large) USA only.
