Backwoods Beard Balm: Review and Giveaway

My husband has had a beard for most of the time I have known him, which is almost 12 years. He usually shaves it every few months to make it grow in "fresh" and then grows it back out full. I had never been a lover of beards, but his always looked becoming on him and it fit him well.  Both of us are sulfate free and so we do not apply chemical laden or sulfate soaps or shampoos.

My husband sometimes wears his beard a medium length and naturally curly. We were sent a natural beard balm that he has been using that is nourishing to skin and hair. It is called Backwoods Beard Balm and carries a nice woodsy scent with pure cedarwood, fir and vetiver essential oils.  The balm is meant to provide a light to medium hold, and tame beard hair while providing moisture and nourishment.

This multi-purpose pomade can also be used as a pomade for hair, which is how my husband uses it as well.  Several years ago he used to use alcohol and chemical based hair gels that damaged his hair and dried it out.  They also made the texture crunchy and stiff with no movement.  Luckily I was able to convince him that those type of gels and hair waxes were not healthy and he decided to look for other options.  We had tried several natural methods, such as using pure aloe vera gel, homemade flax seed gel, natural leave in conditioner watered down, and even plain water to only wet the hair.

It is nice for him to use this balm in his hair as it is a nice masculine scent and gentle to his hair.  His hair is not stiff or sticky when this is worn.  He only needs to use a small amount to make his natural curls defined.  We love how this is made with 100% natural ingredients and essential oils.  It contains Shea, Argan and Jojoba, all of which promote strengthened hair follicles, preventing breakage and give a light healthy sheen to his hair..
He likes using it on his beard, mustache and hair.  Whatever balm is left over from application, he massages into his dry knuckles.  He likes this product a lot.

The company that makes this is called The Mod Cabin, a quirky high end mens grooming shop.  The website is classy and well laid out.  You can connect with them on Facebook, and Twitter.

This is a recent beard picture, after he had trimmed it down, for regrowing.  He likes to trim it very short every 3-4 months to keep it fresh feeling.

The following pictures are beard pictures from previous years. :)

The company has sponsored a giveaway to one of my readers.  USA only please and 18 and over.
