Pravana Nevo Lived-In Powder Potion: Reviewed

I've worn my hair in a slight retro "beehive" or bouffant 60's style for the past 5 years or so. I like wearing my black cat eye winged eye liner and a nice red or hot pink / fuchsia lip. I do not tease my hair and never have as I feel it might be a bit damaging. Some days my hair is taller than others. Lately, in the last 5 months I have had to adopt more simple, easier styles with a new baby and a 3 1/2 year old. I miss being able to spend extra time on my hair, but I love cuddling my new baby and so little baby wins out.

When I came across an opportunity to do a review on a hair pomade powder that promises texture and volume without grittiness, I was excited to get my hands on it or should I say, my hair in it?. Pravana Lived-In Powder Potion is a lightweight, freshly fragranced hair powder that transforms into velvety hair pomade. The first time I used it, I was quite surprised. This powder had an instant cooling sensation and became a creamy styling cream. There is no grainy grittiness left in my hair and my hair does not feel heavy or greasy. I only need a small amount of powder to my roots to give a glossy volumized hair style. I often also put some underneath my hair and rake my fingers through while lifting my hair.

The directions suggest to apply on damp or dry hair. I wash my hair only 2 times a week so my hair is usually dry when I am styling it. I apply this to my air dried hair. This powder has a medium hold and provides some extra texture for my for favorite retro hairstyles. The fragrance is quite pretty, and reminds me of freshly shampooed hair.

My hair is not nearly as big as I normally style it, but this product works quite well for my needs right now. I am excited to try this on my bigger hairstyles in the near future. It feels refreshing to apply and gives a pretty luster to my strands. I like it and will continue using it. When I first got it, I had hoped that it would act as a dry shampoo, but this is not meant for absorbing oil or mattifying, at least it did not do that for me. Since this changes from a powder into a creamy pomade, it does seem to provide a slicker appearance than a dry shampoo.

Pravana Nevo Care products are 100% vegan and gluten free. I like how the bottle is easy to take along in a makeup bag. The bottle is quite small but I only need a small amount of powder for my thick hair. The top has a sifter shaker so that it can be applied directly to hair instead of your hands if you desire. The product comes in 100% biodegradable packaging. 5% of all Nevo product sales are donated to City of Hope for the fight against cancer.

  1. I use hair spray everyday! I tend to wear my hair down flat ironed or curl it.
