Kazu 100% USDA Organic Japanese Matcha: Reviewed

I have been eating a lot healthier the last 5 months. I have always eaten my fruits and vegetables and drink a lot of water, but my protein levels had not been where I wanted them. I also wanted to boost my antioxidant rich foods. I start my day with a blended ice smoothie made with Green Matcha tea, Vanilla Protein Powder (made from super foods, greens) pure cacao powder, 2 bananas, and 2% milk. I generally peel and freeze my 2 bananas the night before as adding ice to my smoothies tends to water it down too much.

I was sent Kazu Matcha Green Tea to try. The brand is Kazu Trading Company. They distribute organic superfoods and teas to supermarkets and retail stores throughout the United States. Their goal is to provide quality organic products from all over the world. I tend to agree that their foods are top quality. The ones I have tried are delicious with beautiful aromas. I had reviewed their Brown Rice Genmai Tea. Authentic Japanese Genmai Cha is a delight to drink, and so surprising. I had never tried such a unique tea. Please read my review of the tea HERE.

The Kazu Green Matcha comes in a resealable bag with a nice flat bottom. It is a great little feature as it keeps the bag standing upright and helps keep it open when I am scooping out tea. The tea has a nice fresh herbal fragrance and a nice coloring. I have been using it each morning in a smoothie. Here is how I would prepare it:

I use 1/2 teaspoon of the green matcha, 2 frozen bananas, 1 scoop of Vanilla Garden of Life Protein Powder, 1 tablespoon of organic unsweetened/pure Cacao powder, 8 oz. of 2 %milk. I mix this up in my blender, and enjoy the natural sustained energy without jitters or crashes.

Matcha is a different kind of green tea. Matcha tea is full of catechins, flavonoids, and polyphenols. It is a highly antioxidant tea, and high in ECGC. Matcha tea has about 3 times as much EGCG antioxidant than other green teas. Antioxidants help slow the processes and signs of aging. Your body feels and looks healthier as well. Matcha is stone ground into a powder, the whole tea leaf and all its nutrients are consumed. Regular tea is brewed with hot water over a tea bag, few nutrients pass through the tea bag into the water. Matcha contains a higher concentration of catechins, chlorophyll, and antioxidants. Matcha tea contains an amino acid derivative called L-Theanine, which is said to relieve stress and give mental clarity/alertness. I use this in the morning to help me wake up and help me feel refreshed.

I really like this matcha tea and continue using it in my smoothies. I like the flavor and benefits I get from it. I had tried it hot with money and honey and it was enjoyable, however in the summer I do not drink much hot tea.
