Japanese Konjac Sponge: Green Tea: Reviewed

I like to exfoliate my face. I have always preferred natural methods and I sometimes use honey and sugar for a gentle, sweetly fragrant, yet affordable scrub. I recently was introduced to Konjac sponges. Konjac is a plant that has been used for skincare in Japan. The natural plant fiber holds water extremely well. This type of sponge is extremely gentle, yet an excellent natural skin cleaner and exfoliate.

Konjac can cleanses skin pores, removing blackheads, dirt & excess oil. Since it holds water, it hydrates the skin & balances my skin's pH. I like using natural methods and you cannot get much more natural than cleaning your skin with a plant. It 100% natural, sustainable & bio-degradable. This particular brand is the second Konjac I have tried and is in my opinion, by far the best of the 2 I have tried.

The first aspect about this sponge is added green tea which is calming to skin and help with reducing inflammation from acne and irritation due to the cooling and soothing properties of tea. The send noticeable aspect is the white string that is attached to the sponge which is used to provide a sense of security when holding the sponge. It also allows the sponge to be hung from a hook. My other Konjac has a string as well, however, looking at both strings, this brand has a thicker, sturdier string. My previous sponge string is almost like a thick sewing thread. This brand is an actual thick string and is durable.

This company makes several types of Konjac sponges. Each is infused with either a charcoal or clay or tea that helps with soothing and healing different skin types. They contains minerals and antioxidant ingredients that help nourish, heal, soothe and smooth skin naturally. The sponge can be used with or without cleanser. I do not usually use cleanser with mine. I wash my face first and then use this afterwards. It is dry and somewhat hard at first. It only takes about 20-30 seconds under warm water to soften this sponge. I gently massage this into my wet skin in a circular motion. This does not cause me to be irritated or break out. My face is sometimes a rosy pink after using this, but that is often due to the circulation this provides.

The brand is called Japanese Konjac Sponge and their products are 100% natural, vegan, and eco-friendly. They can be used on the face and on the body. I only use mine on my face. The third aspect about this sponge that I like better than my previous brand is that this one is a more scrubbier texture. Mine has a criss-cross like sliced texture in the way it was cut. Some people may find it rougher than they prefer, but I like a good scrubby sponge. It is not harsh at all on my face. It makes my skin smooth, and after my shower my face is a smooth canvas for my creams and makeup foundation. I recommend this sponge.
