WooBamboo Bamboo "Sprout" eco-friendly bamboo-handled children's toothbrush: Review and Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

My daughter, who is now just short of 3 1/2, used to love brushing her teeth when she was about a year old. At that time we used an electric toothbrush with a hello kitty cartoon on it and some regular toddler fluoride free toothpaste. She was fascinated with it and we would always sing abc's twice when brushing her teeth. She would brush first for a little bit to play and then we would sing the abc song and do a more thorough job. Since then we have switch to a manual tooth brush as we feel it is a bit safer and seems like there is less playing and more brushing involved. We have switched to more natural home and health products in our home, and so she previously had been using a purple toothbrush found at our local whole foods that was made from recycled yogurt cups (cool). We have been using a Spry toothpaste and she loves the giraffe on front. I was super excited to have an opportunity to review a really neat looking bamboo toothbrush from the WooBamboo company. As the name suggests, this is an eco-friendly bamboo-handled children's toothbrush. The tooth brush is called
the Bamboo "Sprout" and is very smooth and comfortable to hold. My daughter liked how the bristles were colored. I like how eco minded this company is. When this arrived, even their mailing envelope was recycled and brown paper. They wrote a hand written note to me and that was a nice little touch.

“We’re not a toothbrush company. At WooBamboo, we’re in the inspiration business.” That is a good motto for a company to have. They sure inspired me. Their packaging and enclosed pamphlets had a cute panda bear on it. They want to inspire people to continue to make small, eco-friendly steps toward improving their daily habits and promoting a healthy environment. The comfortable and lightweight handles are all made from organically grown, sustainable, biodegradable, antimicrobial bamboo. The happily colored, recyclable bristles are Dupont Tynex. The company hopes that when each brush is ready to be replaced, that the user will pull out and recycle the bristles, and throw the handle into the compost where it will gently biodegrade.

Here are some tips on using your WooBamboo brush. Don’t let your brush sit in liquid, as bamboo is soft and porous and will absorb water. Change your brush after two to three months, and if you are sick, keep it away from other family member's brushes, and swap it out to a new one when you recover so as not to spread the germs. Putting each brush in a enclosed toothbrush holder will help keep germs off your brush (as pretty much everyone keeps their brush in the bathroom--please definitely do this if you sink counter is close to the toilet).

We like these toothbrushes, they look attractive, are smooth to the touch, eco-friendly, and easy to hold with their ergonomically curved handles. The company makes a WooBamboo Standard Handle toothbrush for adults which comes in soft, medium, and super-soft bristles. WooBamboo Slim Handle brush is slightly thinner, with a smaller head and comes in the same 3 bristle types. The Sprout brushes are meant for children or can be used as handy travel toothbrushes.
